Good Morning,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us as we truly appreciate hearing from our customers. Our Oregano is a straight spice, therefore contains nothing but the spice. Below is some information about gluten and our products:

Please read info below as it is important.

!!!!Please be advised we have removed msg from all of our blends except for Complete Seasoning and will begin producing this way in the next couple months, however, it does take time for this to reach all store levels. So for now this does apply:

I am including a bit of information on gluten and our products, there are only a few items which do contain gluten.

All of our straight spices such as, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Pepper, etc. contain no gluten.

Our blends however is where you will begin to see change.

*Only some of our products, blended products, contain a derivative of Gluten, which is MSG and it is the following:

Complete Seasoning

Fajita Seasoning

Taco Seasoning

Cajun Seasoning

Rotisserie Seasoning

Poultry Seasoning

Adobo w/ Pepper

Adobo w/o Pepper

Mojo Marinade

ALSO READ THE FOLLOWING for ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Please make sure that you read this in detail.

Gluten Questions & Celiac Disease.

Our spices do not contain Wheat Flour (Gluten) Our Straight spices (paprika, cumin, cloves, garlic. etc.. are 100% the spice ground with no additives or Fillers

In blends, such as curry powder etc.., we do not have wheat flour, we do however have MSG (This is on the label of the blends as required by law).

****We have had customers with Celiac Disease contact us with similar questions, It has been advised that people with Celiac should not consume MSG that is imported. The MSG contained in our BLENDS is imported, please tell the client to contact their doctor regarding the acceptability of your consuming the msg in our blends.

The straight spices are fine for them to consume.

Have a lovely weekend!!

KEEP IT SPICY!

-This just came in after I posted the original message.

My apologies, I forgot! We use starch only in ONE item which is Yellow Food Coloring Powder.

Thanks!

Just an update for anyone who uses Baida Curry powder. They have updated their formulas and their curry has no MSG or gluten. I emailed and asked. Their response is below (verified as of Nov 23, 2010):

Good Morning,

Thanks for taking the time to write to us as we truly appreciate hearing from our customers. Please be advised, the forum you were reading which included info about our spices is a bit old. Since then, we have completely removed msg from the few remaining items, with the exception of Complete Seasoning and Mojo Marinade. Other than these 2 items, no other product contains.

Curry powder does not have gluten or msg.

Also, by law it is required to place MSG on the listed ingredients if it does in fact contain, you will find all of our ingredients on the label.

Thanks again and have a lovely day!

I haven’t had any noticeable reactions to salt so I will continue using it. I think I just freaked out when I realized this but it doesn’t cause me any discomfort- so thanks!

Ok, thanks. I'm so glad to hear you are in the hands of a dermatologist. I hope he/she has given you 1) a diagnosis; and 2) a plan of care with a couple of options so that you have buy-in and comfort with it. I have some ideas, but not having seen the abscesses or you in person, it doesn't really make sense for me to kind of ... speculate further. But your question was regarding gluten, and you've gotten a couple of other follow up questions and answers that are good, including the idea to keep a food diary. Let us know if we can help further or answer any other questions. I'm sorry you're going through this, it sounds very painful.

@plumbago They appear as boils. They are big, like the size of a nickel--quarter, and they hurt when I touch them. I have gone to the same derm for them over and over and she thinks my body is colonized by a bacteria, but even after using hibiclens all over my body they come back.

Welcome to the gluten-free community! It’s great to have you here. While gluten sensitivity or celiac disease can indeed cause skin issues, such as dermatitis herpetiformis (a blistering rash), abscesses in areas like the lower buttocks or thighs are less commonly linked directly to gluten. However, chronic abscesses could be a sign of an underlying immune or inflammatory condition, which might be worth discussing with a healthcare professional. Some people with gluten-related disorders also experience secondary issues like bacterial overgrowth or immune dysregulation, which could potentially contribute to recurrent infections. It’s always a good idea to explore all possible causes, including gluten sensitivity, with your doctor. In the meantime, keeping a food and symptom diary might help identify any patterns. Wishing you the best on your health journey!

You say you have gluten sensitivity? Have you been officially diagnosed with celiac disease or do you refer to NCGS?
