Celiac.com 08/25/2022 - With people traveling again, we've been getting a lot of questions about fast food places. Taco John's is a popular Mexican-inspired fast food chain with locations across the United States.

People have been wondering if Taco John's is gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease? The short answer is mostly no. Taco John's does not offer a gluten-free menu, or promise that any of its menu items are gluten-free. So, it might not be the best choice for people with celiac disease.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
There are some items on the Taco John's menu that contain no wheat and gluten ingredients, and don't use ingredients that are cooked in a shared fryer, but they are not guaranteed gluten-free. Also, according to Taco John's website, nearly everything else at Taco John's either contains wheat ingredients, or is prepared in a shared fryer.

The items at Taco John's that contain no gluten ingredients, but offer no risk that they are free of cross-contamination via shared fryers or handling in their kitchens, include:

    • Boss Bowl, Beef, Pico de Gallo
    • Boss Bowl, Beef, Roasted Corn & Pepper Salsa
    • Boss Bowl, Chicken, Pico de Gallo
    • Boss Bowl, Chicken, Roasted Corn & Pepper Salsa
    • Black Beans
    • Refried Beans
    • Rice & Beans
    • Side Salad

Finding Gluten-Free Food at America's Mexican Fast Food Chains
Celiac.com 08/08/2024 - When on the go or short on time, finding gluten-free dining options can be challenging, especially at fast food restaurants. However, Mexican cuisine often offers some reliable choices.
Even Mexican fast food chains can offer some decent options. Of course, not all Mexican fast food chains are equal in providing gluten-free options, so it's crucial to know where you can find safe and delicious meals. Eating out at any restaurant is always risky, even if they offer a gluten-free menu, but if you accept such risks the listing below may be helpful.
Remember, individual experiences may vary, so always check with staff about ingredients and preparation methods. If you have feedback, or know of any other Mexican fast food chains that offer good gluten-f...

Can Amy's Work Their Gluten-Free Magic into Drive Thru Magic?
Celiac.com 09/26/2017 - If you've ever eaten any of the gluten-free foods made by Amy's, then you know their commitment to taste, quality, and solid gluten-free options. Bolstered by their success in the commercial grocery markets, Amy's is moving into fast food. Not just fast food, drive-through fast food.
Amy's Drive Thru opened its first location in Rohnert Park, California back in 2015, where it was quickly embraced as a healthier, more ethical alternative to other fast food chains.
Amy's Drive Thru is now set to open a second store in Corte Madera in 2018, followed by five more locations in northern California.
All Amy's food is 100% vegetarian and organic, with a menu ranging from burgers and burritos to pizza and mac-n-cheese, and, of course, plenty of gluten-free and vegan...

Which Fast Food Outlets Offer the Best Gluten-Free Options?
Celiac.com 02/04/2019 - With the rise in popularity of the gluten-free diet, and with more people being diagnosed with Celiac disease, more restaurants are offering gluten-free alternatives. While this is a great advancement, it’s important to note that not all gluten-free restaurant choices are created equal. Even if food is labelled “gluten-free,” the risk of cross-contamination could still be high, especially given the speed with which food is prepared.
We see a lot of questions about gluten-free and gluten-safe fast food. One especially prominent question was “Is Burger King gluten-free?” The answer to that is that there is almost nothing gluten-free or gluten-safe at Burger King.
There are far better options than Burger King in the otherwise bleak gluten-free landscape...

    Is Taco Bell Gluten-Free?
Celiac.com 05/22/2021 - We get a lot of questions from celiac community members wondering if certain fast food restaurants are gluten-free, or have gluten-free options. We've shared information about the gluten-free options at McDonald's in Europe, and offered some other info on other fast food options.
One question we see a lot is about Taco Bell. Is Taco Bell gluten-free? The short answer is no. Taco Bell does not specifically label any of its food gluten-free.
However, while Taco Bell does not specifically label any of its food gluten-free, and they don't recommend it for people with celiac disease, they do have some dishes that contain no gluten ingredients, and they have a guide for how to eat Taco Bell while you are avoiding gluten. The guide is called How To Eat Taco ...
