Nodula On Lung
Well I just got a phone call from my dr.'s office on my chest CT and it came back with a nodula on the lower part of my lung. I will go for another test to see if I have Valley Fever or have ever had it because this nodula could be from that so I am not concerned as I have heard alot of people get scars on their lungs from it. I didnt get to see my dr. yesterday as scheduled, he was sick. So I will see him in January due to the holidays I have to wait. Kinda a bummer because I still am notStill Sick, Search For Other Intolerance
While it is a fact that gluten intolerance never comes alone, most people will be intolerant to other food as well, it is also helpfull to check other factors such as your environment. For example, my son is intolerant to fungus on spoiled fruits, so commercial fruit juices (which always include rotten fruits) will make him react. Some other people, it will be plastics ! Well my wonderful husband took me out for my birthday dinner Saturday night and it was wonderful. He called ahead and spoke to the manager and asked about cross contamination and the menu. He took me to OutBack! He ordered for me and he also ate Gluten Free I felt wonderful the whole night, had some Wine and went to bed. Got up in the morning with my left side and back area hurting we have been so careful since we found out that I have Celiac Disease. My stomach didn't hurt though so I stBday Cake, Girls Weekend, And Holiday Parties
I had coconut cake, cupcakes, and brownies for my birthday. My best friend was going to be in Vegas for my bday, and so she invited me and I invited my other friend from New Orleans. It was so fun. My Major was still away, so it was perfect for just girls. My bff carried 2 bakery boxes on the plane from Texas! (From Lil' Aussie Bakery in San Antonio-2die4.) I am so lucky! She eats gluten free stuff with me, and she also orders it when she's out, just to try it for me and to keep up the deNew And Learning
This is all still very new to me and I know it will take some time for me to learn all of this. It has been scary to read all the posts and realize how much I will have to change my life style but I know I can do this. I have a wonderful husband and family that are supporting me and reading information along with me and that helps a great deal. Diagnosted December 2nd with Celiac DiseaseDiet Cure?
I've been gluten- and casein- free for over a year, soy-free for almost a year, and none of my symptoms have gone away. My joints still ache, I'm still tired all the time. Thankfully, I have an absolutely awesome mom and dad who keep trying to figure out what's wrong ...and I think we may have hit something this time. The Diet Cure by Julia Ross -filled with little questionnaires that direct you towards what chemical imbalance your body may have -has definitely helped me find out what's wrong (Mt. Olive Pickles have no Gluten Ingredients
Recently, noticing that the Mt. Olive pickles contain flavoring, or natural flavoring, I wrote a letter asking whether their flavoring contains any derivatives of rye or barley, even if it doesn't contain any wheat. Here's the letter I got back from them: __________________________________________ Hallie, thanks for your note. Our QC folks followed up with our flavorings supplier, and our flavorings do not contain rye, barley or any of their derivatives. ThanGluten-Free Labeled, Store Brand Over the Counter (OTC) Medicines Coming Soon
For years I’ve only purchased big brand names of ibuprofen and cough/cold medicine for my gluten-free daughter, because I couldn’t guarantee the generic, store brand version sitting right next to the big name brand (and about a third less in cost) was gluten-free. Now it appears that’s about to change — in a bold way. In a Open Original Shared Link Monday, the Open Original Shared Link company says it will begin labeling gluten-free products appropriately bWhich Breadmaker?
I need to buy a breadmaker...but which one?! There are so many choices. Which breadmaker do you like? Thanks!Still Sick
As of recently I had a scope done. I have been gluten free for a year now and had to have a scope done because I am still bleeding. The Dr. thought that I might have colon cancer. Very scary at 29. I watched my grandmother go through a lot of the same things. She passed away in her mid 50's. When the scope results came back there was no cancer. THANK GOD. If you have read any of my other posts you might have seen this already. I was just back at the Dr.'s office yesterday because of ongoinTurkey Week-i Could Make A Movie From This.
Totally Gluten-Free turkey day again, but this time at my house with my Major's mother and my mom&stepdad all in from FL We did lots of fix-it stuff on my new house (bank repo) Parents woke at 4am (FL time 7am) and went to 24 hr Wal-Mart to buy me "appropriate" dishes and silverware (mine isn't heavy enough) for my belated birthday gifts. My stepdad forgot to take his blood pressure meds on Tuesday (day 3)and blew his top and went MIA in the rental car. Didn't hear from him till Wed.Recommend A Doctor/clinic In Las Vegas
Can anyone recommend a doctor or health clinic in Las Vegas that specializes in Gluten Intolerance i.e. Celiac disease? I would prefer to find someone who is outside the "standard of care" i.e. normal procedures that doctors who are aligned to large medical organizations follow. Over 7 years ago I was diagnoised with Gluten Intolerance. I had gone everywhere and had all kinds of diagnosis including liver disease, chronic fatigue etc. I could barely get out of bed in the morning. I finallI'm Thankful For ...

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Today will be quite a test for all of us. Trying to eat gluten free and having to ask thousands of questions to our hosts for the day about all the food they've prepared. I will be visiting with my brother and the rest of our family at his house. This has been the tradition for the past several years. It is usually a huge feast and I leave there feeling sooooo FULL!! But now, I must be cautious about what I am eating. Maybe I should have been in the past also, butConfusing Diagnosis Process
I have been aggresively trying to figure out what has been wrong with me for the past 18 months. I am 40 years old and have dealt with loose stools, fatigue and all over joint pain for 7 years. The results I have received so far are: vitamin d deficiency, vitamin b12 deficiency, esophagitis, chronic gastritis, duodenitis, delayed small bowel transit time, negative blood tests for celiac, postive gene tests for celiac, and the biopsies that were performed were negative BUT they were only takenCould It Be?
Gluten?! Could it really be? I've long since written it off. Especially as I see the previous commonly-missed condition become all the rage now: GI problems = gluten problem. Yet such a rare condition, all be it an extreme one, unlike traditional allergies/intolerances. It's caught me off guard in my latest attempt to solve the mess. Once again willing to do whatever it takes for a new kind of life--and more desperate than ever to figure it out. And once again left confused, lost,Strange Sense Of ...calm.
So, today I am exactly 4 weeks gluten free. Had some accidental glutten poisoning last weekend which resulted in another breakout of hives and no sleep that lasted almost one week. I have only been half-heartedly toying with the dairy free experiment up until 3 days ago. I would occasionally add a dollop or two of yogurt to a smoothie or put a little cream in my coffee which resulted in minor gas and scant bloating. But I decided to completely forgoe the dairy products for a few days just to1st Thanksgiving With Celiacs

Question to anyone who has recently decided to have children fiance and i are talking bout possible future plans and naturally the topic children has come up, my fears are that i will have on child with the disease and one with out, then what am i supposed to do raise one normal let him have a happy meal but the other child can not. or do i pretend they both have the disease and give them the same foods, is that wrong for me to do that to the child who is fine. but that aside how likely am i tHigh Gluten Diet - 1 Tbs Gold Medal Flour A Day
13-yr old daughter needs to be on a high gluten diet, specifically 1 Tbs gold medal flour a day. She's not a sweet eater, so she doesn't want me to bake her anything. She's eating bread, pasta, etc., but the doctor also wants to add flour (how, I'm not sure). Appreciate any suggestions.Good Meals For A Family Of Celiacs And Non-celiacs!
I decided to post a few items that I have found to be my "go-to" meals when I'm feeding my family and don't have the energy to cook 2 separate meals: Mexican - corn tortillas, yellow corn taco shells (Ortega are marked gluten free on the box), ground sirloin and some spices - good to go! The whole family will eat these! Some corn chips, salsa and you've even got a great snack! Pasta - the gluten free pasta is pretty expensive but I have found it is pretty easy to just make it for tDiagnosis Day - Also Known As D-day....
I decided to create my own blog as I'm a newly diagnosed Celiac and have learned a lot in the last several months. I was diagnosed on May 22nd, 2009 when a nurse called me to tell me I tested positive for celiac sprue.... At the time, I was looking at a slice of pizza from Pizza Hut that I was about ready to eat I had not been feeling well for quite a few months which is what started me down this path - more on that in a future post.... Little did I really know how much my life was goin-

John Scott pointed me to Wiki entry about the effect of diet on hookworm egg production: https://www.helminthictherapywiki.org/wiki/NA_incubation:_very_detailed_method_by_Alana#Promotion_of_egg_viability_by_dietary_manipulation
Nothing presently in my diet was mentioned in the article, but it does bring up the obvious point that my diet would naturally affect the health and wellness of the hookworms that live in my gut. Something to think about.

Yes, there are several gluten-free certifications out there (one is the GFCO), and the usual standard they claim is 10ppm, however, recent findings indicate that even the GFCO's higher standards may not ensure that foods they certify are gluten-free:
