Cinnamon Rolls
Celiac Specialties sent me the cinnamon rolls finally and they are SPECTACULAR!! SOOO delicious! The tortillas (gluten-free option for flour tortillas) are ok, but defeat the point of a flour tortilla since they don't bend very easily...I made it into a quesadilla, but folding it into a burrito would probably be impossible. I also LOVE the apple streudel from C.Specialties. Perfectly delectable. Since I've been traveling and dating here are some other eating out experiences I've had-- no glutNewbie - Another One
Hi there everyone. As titled, I'm totally new to this and reading more and more entries and starting to feel panicked. I've been trying to go gluten free for two months and have not found much improvement other than that my condition is now manageable - ie: I can go back to work and be with friends. I'm still tired and often cloudy and not sure what sets that off. I'm now noticing that I should be looking at soaps, shampoos, dish soap and the like? Is this true if we're not ingesting shThe Celiac Family
My nephew got married this past weekend. All of my bros. and my sister, and all but two of my mother's siblings attended. The wedding was in Longview, so my out-of-town relatives came here for a couple of days, then we all drove to Longview for a weekend of parties. My brother and his wife, parents of the groom, paid for our hotel rooms for the weekend. They also invited us all to the rehearsal dinner. My sister-in-law was very careful about the menu and quizzed the chef thoroughly aboutJuly 01, 2007
wow, I'm losing weight finally! I'm down to 166 from a prednisone high of 186. I want 40 more at least. We bought a camper The day after we bought it we took it out for a test run. Very successful. It's so nice because we can vacation and I can cook and control the food now. DH still goes out and gets his bread and claims a little won't hurt him. I can't get him to understand that he needs to not eat ANY of it. Next week we leave for a long Colorado vacation. I'm not taking anBack Again
Life is crumbling. Funny how when you think things are peachy, things all of a sudden end up pear shaped. I have two sons in Sydney, Australia, they have been there for coming on 10 years. Their father, my ex husband has been a major part in their lives over there. I thought things had been fine, they have both been working, one son even managed to set up a business on his own. But life gets tough even for them. It now seems the youngest who has been unemployed for a little whileGood Eats
They took second helpings! The Japanese Rice Coconut Pudding turned out fine. It looked and tasted like oatmeal with cinnamon in it. I guess, since oatmeal isn't something we get to eat, it was a happy coincidence. Although I did read about some type of oat that has a low enough level of gluten.... I have been dealing with somewhat of a dilemma. The detective calls himself finicky. He doesn't have the affinity for fresh fruit and veggies like I do (lots of men are that way, aren't they? Tom's Party is over, I'm glad and it seemed to go ok? Everyone liked it I was good too at the dinner, I didnt have time to eat anything lol BUt Some of the respones I received from my test results here and somewhere else, t hey said that I wasnt gluten-free, So they made me think I was not GS and I had some bagels and a hero, now I am sooo sick and in pain. Plus I have my period and its really bad so I am not feeling well. sandiGray And Black?
Is it just me, or is the board gray and black now? I don't like it.Traveling Again
*Drum roll* Did she make a long weekend trip in Washington D.C. without getting glutened?NO. Positives: there was a WHOLE FOODS where they had an omelette lady we took advantage of for breakfast and we bought stuff for picnicking! I ate at Joe Theisman's restaurant (salad and bunless roast beef) and it was FANTASTIC. So, we ate there the next night, and...glutened! But, I have to admit the house balsamic vinegrette dressing I tried this time looked suspect, and I dared to eat chocolate mousseDoctor Search

I am so tired today, being in that school, was too hot But I stuck to my double D diet (Celiac and diet) For b/fast I had 3 eggs and for Lunch, 2 wendy side salads and for supper 2 chicken breasts and veggies. My arms still have that burning feeling and my back hurt a bit today Tomorrow I go for my mamo and that transvaginal I hate the trans one, and scared of what it will find Its taking me longer to bounce back from this last cheat, and I will try to make sure its my last cheat sHi
I am finally starting to feel better, I am not so bloated now, and Almost not Nausea. I am trying hard to be gluten free and I think I am doing good, But I have to learn to think about it more, Like today I went to subway and just got a salad and didn't ask if the chicken was ok, I think I had some reaction to it A big concern is that my arms are still burning and I still have that left shoulder pain, I think after Toms party I am going to find a new Dr. Dr. R wasn't interested at all. Just found out from the manufacturer of the PPD Tuberculin skin test that there is no guarantee that is does not contain gluten. They had me give them a report with all my information to have on record. I had a reaction with reddness, itchy blisters and the infamous "bump". They retested me on the other arm and I had a worse reaction. Could be just a positive TB skin test, but I am wondering if there is gluten in this product. I do not have the DH that goes with celiac, but I do have celiacMonday
Yesterday was good! It was a nice day, andJace was so happy. He even won some awards for Grad. I didnt have any cake/ cookies after and they had some almonds in candy thingy i had 2 and a glass of diluted ice tea. At Benihanna I had white rice, and steak, I asked for no soy sause and Ice cream so I was good. Almost - I had their salad and it had ginger dressing and I didnt think that would have soy sause and as I was eating it, the guy said, that has soy sause in it....... Like why couldntWalk A Thon Day
Today was the day I ran the Walk a Thon for my son's school. It wasn't hot so that was good, But I did cheat. I had a Hot dog with a bun and right away the burning on my arms and feet and pain in the left side, I dont know why I do this to my self. Well, Endolab received my stuff, so now I wait. I am not sure if I want it to be positive or neg, and how i will react. If it is Neg, something is surely wrong and how will I feel then and if it is Pos. then how will I feel I guess right-

John Scott pointed me to Wiki entry about the effect of diet on hookworm egg production: https://www.helminthictherapywiki.org/wiki/NA_incubation:_very_detailed_method_by_Alana#Promotion_of_egg_viability_by_dietary_manipulation
Nothing presently in my diet was mentioned in the article, but it does bring up the obvious point that my diet would naturally affect the health and wellness of the hookworms that live in my gut. Something to think about.

Yes, there are several gluten-free certifications out there (one is the GFCO), and the usual standard they claim is 10ppm, however, recent findings indicate that even the GFCO's higher standards may not ensure that foods they certify are gluten-free:
