I've been having some anxiety today, don't know if it's due to the gluten or what. A friend of mine was killed Sunday night on the way back from her family Christmas. A woman in another car crossed the center line and hit them head on. Deb was killed instantly and the woman and her husband in the other car were killed. Deb's husband is in very critical condition. Why do all the good ones die? A couple months ago another friend died suddenly. It's so unreal. My heart breaks for Deb's chilUp Early, But At Least Not Middle Of The Night.
When I went to bed last night at 8:30, I turned on music to go to sleep to. I don't remember hearing any of it, as I must have been asleep instantly. I woke up at 6:00 AM to go to the bathroom. But just to pee pretty much. I think giving my bowels a rest yesterday by not eating until evening was the best thing to do. I ate some chicken last night, and a few rice crackers with hazelnut butter. I know, I shouldn't really eat rice crackers, but I needed something, and was too tired to cook for myDaughter's Recital Was Great!
Well, after not eating any breakfast or lunch and only drinking some water and chamomile tea until nearly 7:00 PM, I made it through the day without major problems. I didn't get any more sleep after my last entry, as every time I thought of going to bed, I'd have to rush to the bathroom instead. So, I had about four hours of sleep the night before last night, and about three hours last night. Meaning, I'll be going to bed soon to try to catch up on some sleep. I know, I usually NEVER go toMidnight Run(s)
I was hoping so much that this night I could just make it through the night, it sure felt like it was possible when I went to bed. But no such luck. I woke up at 4:00 AM, and just made it to the bathroom, where I stayed for an hour (sigh). Now it is 5:00 AM, and I don't feel like it's safe to go back to bed yet. Seriously, how will I make it through the day on so little sleep? I haven't had a decent, uninterrupted night's sleep in a week! I am supposed to go to church, and to my daughter's rIt's The Middle Of A Dark, Rainy Night........
Okay, here I am again in the middle of the night. I actually DID go to bed at 11:00 PM, and fully intended to sleep until morning. Unfortunately, my bowels didn't agree with this plan. And since I'll likely be hours, running to the bathroom every few minutes, I thought I might as well make the best of it and do a little writing for distraction. Right now I am in the middle of reading four books (plus a computer book). I rarely just read one book at a time. I guess one reason is, that I mostlBig Ez Post Katrina
Best Food: Hushpuppies! Good enuff to make me howl for more! Pralines- gluten-free! Saddest: Couldn't try the famous beignets! Worst Restaurants: HerbSaint--they didn't have the food listed on the online menu! ugh! And it was COLD in there. Dick & Jenny's: expensive food and they use JIFFY mix for their cornbread. (not gluten-free) I got by eating seafood salads sans croutons in restaurants for lunches and instant grits, candy, chips, and hot chocolate I brought for eating in my hotel rGrandma Got Run Over By The...
Fun Grandma story----my grandma LOVES garage sales and when she moved to a new town she discovered a resale shop type of place called DIG and SAVE which is her new hobby. You dig in 3 foot tall bins full of USED clothes and pay for them by the POUND.So grandma loves to shop for ALL of us there and always has a pile of stuff for me when I visit. I usually make my mother give it away to Goodwill immediately (I grew up shopping at Goodwill by necessity and am delighted to be able to wear unused cAnother Rough Day.
I can't believe I actually have a blog now! People think blogs are pretty cool. I hope that makes me 'hip' and part of the cool crowd. So, I am worse today. I got to were I was giving up. Giving up on ever getting well, giving up on God pretty much, giving up on life in general. As a result of that attitude, I didn't resist the new gluten-free section at my grocery store yesterday. Since I was there last, they have added a big cooler with cool gluten-free stuff , like Amy's pizza, anDecember 15, 2006
I'm not feeling so good today. Stomach is very gurgly, churning, I'm bloated, my jeans are sooooo tight today! I"m foggy brained, sinus crud, fatigued and did I mention bloated? Hmmm, sounds like I got glutened! I have been so careful too. I can't seem to get ahead for falling behind lately. well, today so far I've had an apple, almond butter and raisins. I made some guacomole for lunch I'm making shrimp for dinner. My stomach is a little hungry right now but my abdoWell, Here Goes, My First Entry.
I finally discovered that I can have a blog here (yes, sometimes I can be pretty dense, I guess ). So, I decided to give it a try. Why am I up in the middle of the night? For several reasons. One is, that I am a night owl, always have been, and always will be. Secondly, I am feeling terrible, with stomach cramps that will give me trouble sleeping. And thirdly, night time is the one time when I can be alone, without anybody coming to interrupt what I am doing. Today (or rather, yesterdDecember 09, 2006
ahhhh, temperatures in the 50's today! It was great! Son had to work theater so we spent the day in the 'big city'. I walked sooo much, I'm pretty tired tonight. I'm trying to find a stand for my tv in the bedroom. It's not a big tv but it's big enough to need something solid under it. I found some antique stores, which were great, but didn't have quite what I wanted. There was a wardrobe that would work but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to get it. Something about it bothTis The Season
...for parties, that is. We went to a party with our fellow church members last night. It's always a pot luck and usually not a whole lot of gluten-free foods to choose from. Most of them know about my celiac problem and some of them actually make an effort to bring gluten-free foods, which is very nice of them. One lovely lady made a point of telling me that the dessert she brought was gluten-free - candy balls. It just so happens that another friend had told me that the lady had brouDecember 06, 2006
Feelin' good today! I had a small bout of gurgling on the right side earlier in the day and wondered for a while if I was going to have some latent problem from Saturday's binge but it settled down and it's been a good day. I had shrimp and corn for lunch and then two juice smoothies later today. Tonight I"m feeling very good. My joints are feeling great! yahoo! I've slept very well the last two nights, tummy is feeling settled and all is right with the world (ok, my small little world butHeinz Tomato Ketchup
I have contacted Heinz about their ketchup. They state their product is gluten free. Every time I eat Heinz's ketchup I get these loud stomach gurgles. These gurgles seem to be more abnoxious than any other gurgle I get from time to time. Sholud we trust this product and is anyone else out there getting any unusual reactions from this product?-

John Scott pointed me to Wiki entry about the effect of diet on hookworm egg production: https://www.helminthictherapywiki.org/wiki/NA_incubation:_very_detailed_method_by_Alana#Promotion_of_egg_viability_by_dietary_manipulation
Nothing presently in my diet was mentioned in the article, but it does bring up the obvious point that my diet would naturally affect the health and wellness of the hookworms that live in my gut. Something to think about.

Yes, there are several gluten-free certifications out there (one is the GFCO), and the usual standard they claim is 10ppm, however, recent findings indicate that even the GFCO's higher standards may not ensure that foods they certify are gluten-free:
