Strict Diet

If you are gluten free and on an Interstitial Cystitis diet, you are not alone. I'm also allergic to soy, dairy, and nuts. Sometimes I want to scream because I miss out on so many good foods. But now that I'm healing and feeling better and better, I realize that a strict adherence to the IC diet and avoidance of my food allergies is critical to my health. Here are some ideas if your diet is similarly restricted...

1. Avoid going out to eat a lot. I find that eating with friends can sometimes cause me to 'slip' and eat something I shouldn't. It's better to be in control of your environment and what food your around so you aren't tempted to eat something you shouldn't.

2. Carry Prelief with you everywhere! If you're really hungry and there aren't a lot of 'safe' IC friendly and gluten free options at least you can take some Prelief to prevent an IC flare.

3. Plan ahead by bringing safe food with you (carrot sticks, apples, pears). Make sure you know where and when you're going to eat. If you don't plan, and you become really hungry, you might be tempted to cheat. Believe me, I've been here a million times, because when i get hungry I can't wait too long to eat!

OMG
There are 2 of us. !!! I hvae beenn dealing with Interstitial Cystitis for about 10 years. I've even had the Dmso treatments. I have to live on strict diet for that, and now I was diagnosed with Celiac diease, and very strict diet with that. Finding food to eat that will not flare up both is hard. I carry those little blue pill with me all the time.,and I'm not talking about Viagra.
Just to know that there are 2 of us makes me know that I,m not alone.
I have very good friend that help me alot, when we do go out to eat, it mostly on where I can eat. There good at telling me what is in a drink when we go to the bar so I'm not sick for a couple day. It's hard but liveable but it does get to you.
Thanks I know there is someone else I can talk to
