Some Thoughts On Christmas

Christmas. I'm thinking about Christmas because I went Christmas shopping today. It was crazy. People were rushing about everywhere, the lines at the checkouts were insanely long, everyone were buying so much stuff. Why?

I admit, I was buying a bunch of stuff as well. But I have an excuse. I have presents for everybody in my family every Christmas. (Eleven people.) As well as some of my friends. And I was buying the cheapest things I could find.

Why does everybody think that they need so much stuff every Christmas? I get about one present per person. Two if they're small. And I make some of them.

The amount of money American people spend on Christmas is absolutely crazy. 450 billion bucks. That's with a 'b'. What is the point of Christmas?

Christ. It started as the time to celebrate the day Christ was born. Now it's the day to encourage materialism. Why? What's the point? There's people all over the world starving, people who would be thankful for half a bowl of rice a day. Even people in the US would be happy for heat and a home. And we stuff ourselves too full and gorge on materialism too much. I'm not excluding myself. We're all to blame.

Everybody wants to say something that will be passed on from generation to generation. I don't have any wise sayings, even though I'd like to. All I have to say is this: Stuff is not what Christmas is about. If you want to ignore me, fine, but I suggest looking into the original Christmas story. It's the best one out there.
