Not Gonna Take It

First I would like to take a moment to tell you that this isn't a complaint. This is me taking a stand. I have been living with what my bf calls Zodiac disease, AKA Celiac Disease, for about 4 years now. This has been a difficult process, and at times still is. I find myself fighting back the tears, as I have to get used to the idea of connivance and availability. But I WILL not take the total lack of taste and affordability! This is disgusting! The prices on this web site are out of this world. I can not believe that this is what I have to pay for, just to eat. NOT!! Where there is a will there is a way, and I know that God has placed this into my life for a reason. I am a single mother, who is just trying to make it by. Not only is it hard being a single mother, being sick and having the economy in the toilet doesn

organicfooddepot pretty much takes care of my needs... In the Norfolk Virginia area.

Perhaps there's something similar near you. If there isn't, perhaps you know a local business person who is looking for an opportunity -- This is a local chain here, but the stores are franchises. No reason it couldn't go national.

It has a website... just .com at the end of the name. I can order online there & pick it up at the store. And someone with the financial ability to start up could check out the site and start asking questions.

Otherwise, food coops may be a lot of help to some, as they tend toward natural and organic, and for some reason our foods wind up in the same catalogs as those.

And, keep in mind, we do not have to exist on the goods manufactured to be gluten free -- Fresh produce can give us most of our carbs -- potatoes are good. I wash my rice with a veggie rinse very well before I cook it. Bananas are a terrific source of carbs. And all fresh veggies have taste.

I so feel the same way. I am no longer a single mother. I am newly married however, I am still working my "A" off to feed my fam and pay the bills. Now I have to change my whole way of food intake and it is dicouraging when you look at the prices and you have to choose eat or pay a bill. be healthy or not. I wonder if I will be able to continue to afford to eat where I am constantly very fatigued, ill and overworked. I wish I had your faith.

i have spent many many mornings in tears over the pain i am in and how hard this is....well i certainly agree with one thing the prices are unbelievable for most things.I have only been living gluten free for about three weeks but it feels like three years i ate out basically every day before this now i havent sat down at meal in a restaurant in probably a month. This is soooo hard but i tell ya if it wasnt for my boyfriend i dont know how worse off id be.he takes me to these places that sell gluten free stuff no matter how far he has to drive to do it for me.I am not cheap by any means but when i buy things i always consider price. The first time i went into a healthstore to buy gluten free food i seen some bagels and i said to my boyfriend no way in hell i will pay 9 dollars for a 5 pack of bagels that i might not even like he kept telling me dont look at the price we need to get you healthy i spent 30 dollars and i only got 5 things and 2 of which were gross(bagels and pasta) the pizza was good actually and the other two things i have yet to even try and dont reallly want to im not open minded about trying food.Recently i found a place with great pizza pasta and breadsticks even a brownie and they tasted exactyly like "real" food i am looking forward to going back this weekend ive been craving that pizza imagine having pizza that tastes like pizza yes of course the price was a tad high but you also have to consider i bought it in nyc and i dont know if you know but everything cost more in nyc yet you can find ANYTHING basically..hope it gets easier for you...
