I went to my neighbor's house this morning to gab a bit before we went to the flea market. I was offered a cup of coffee, and politely turned it down. It was flavored coffee - and I just really didn't want to go into their kitchen and study the ingredients. I drank a glass of water and enjoyed the conversation.

Then we went to the flea market. I'm a whole three days old of thinking about what goes into my mouth. I haven't read labels in years. I figured a soda would be fine if it was colorless. . .so I ordered a diet Mountain Dew. Ok. . thankfully it wasn't a fountain drink. I looked at the label just to check, and wow. . .returned it and got some water. Friend looked up at the menu and said, "You can't have ANYTHING on this menu, can you?" I looked up. . .sigh. . .uh, no. . .not a thing.
We finished shopping, then stopped at a new Gyro Resaurant on the way home. I told the shop owner that I cannot eat any bread, and asked them if they would change their gloves when they served me. They did so, without question. Seems the owner's son is Gluten Intolerant. They were very very pleasant and helpful. If I keep having great experiences like this, I figure I'll eat there enough for them to get to know me and the 'big scenes' of trying to get it worked out so that I can eat will be less and less. I live in a small city - so it's a possibility.
I found myself feeling very self concious about it. I hate bringing attention to myself in public.
My hubby bought me some gluten free bread to make in the bread machine. Unfortunately, we found out the hard way that we're either going to have to get a new bread machine, or a new inner pan. . .or figure out a way to clean it incredibly thoroughly. . .if that's even possible. . .I had a piece last night to try it out. . .OW. . .WOW. . soooo not good, won't do that again. I was up all night in pain.
My husband and I have been married a little over a year. We married after I had a very stressful difficut eight years - he said that he thought that my life would be much more simple from then on. . . I grinned at him and told him my life is never ever simple - then I warned him that HIS life was about to become complicated. **laughing** sure enough.
We'll get the hang of this. . .he's a patient man. . . and he's always up for trying new FOOD!!
This is truly a one day at a time thing.
