I'm A New Celiac

Hi, I'm a new member to this group. I've been avoiding gluten for almost one year and a half, except for accidental ingesting. I was technically diagnosed via blood test about about 7 months ago, and there was still gluten in my system obviously. My sister is gluten free even though she has never taken the test and she swears that she is a new woman. She talked me into going gluten free. I have severe fibromyalgia and am overweight. When I went gluten free, I lost a little weight, my skin looked healthier and my IBS improved by 50% . I'm still struggling with fibro and ibs, so going gluten free is just like solving one puzzle piece for me. I'm still learning and using a process elimination by trying to track down hidden gluten ingredients which I may be unknowingly ingesting and am wondering if I have additional food issues like with corn or yeast. I also have sensitive skin and am slowly trying to eliminate skin care and cosmetics with gluten as well. I wondered why my skin itched like crazy whenever I had to make homemade play dough with flour when I was a preschool teacher.

After my sis and I went gluten free, my mom (via colonospony) found some damage in her insides and was soon diagnosed as a celiac. So I guess this runs in the family. I may eventually get my kids tested even though they are not showing symptoms now. Well, thanks for reading this and peace to all. Prettycat
