New Diagnosis

Some of you are very lucky to be diagnosed early. i have suffered for 46 years only to finally find out I have celiac disease. i have had so many doctors think I am a hypochondriac.....because i don't really show the intestinal symptoms of celiac......just other symptoms. i have felt badly for 46 years! mind you, i have slowly cut a lot of foods out of my diet on my own because they did make me feel badly, so going on the diet isn't difficult for me, but didn't know if there was a common link between the foods because I couldn't figure it out.

anyway....my energy is so much better and I am feeling great. how long does it take on the diet to get to a normal level of health?

 

Now, I have so many other sensitivities......i have tried some gluten-free lip balm but had such a serious reaction to it that I literally thought I might die. i find that organic products often give me allergic reactions too. does anyone else experience this?

 

i read that products you put on your body shouldn't affect you, but I bought a gluten free shampoo and for the first time in my life my skin is looking great! no more breakouts!

Gluten free shampoo... what a concept! I have to check that out... I always have had BAD acne ~ I can't ever remember having totally clear skin. Since I've been Gluten free I'm clearing up with only a little left. Never even thought about the shampoo!!! What brand/where did you get it?

I too was told I was a hypochondriac... and lazy. It's the worst feeling like everyone else is different somehow. I restricted many things from my diets as well over the years ~ but never carbs or grains. I always thought those foods were necessary to be healthy... boy was I wrong! I'm 40 now, and wish I knew about this when I was younger.

New to gluten intolerance. Live on an island. Very difficult to get "gluten free" stuff. I am not a baker, but make almost everything else from scratch. Is there more to this reading labels than I think? I mean, cold there be gluten stuff in a can if the ingredients don't say so?

Try going to wikapedia and looking up celiac disease. I found it to be very helpful and I think that's where I found the acceptable and unacceptable foods lists.

I will be 50 years old in a few months and I just learned in May that I am Celiac. I have suffered different ailments since childhood. I wished I had learned about this years ago!
