Hello everyone,

I'm a new member searching for answers, information. I have been sick for 2 1/2 yrs, since my c-section with the fallowing symptoms: loose stools, weight loss, chronic fatigue, longer menstrual cycle, etc... I've done many procedures such as Endoscopy, CAT SCAN, Colonoscopy etc... All results and celiac blood work/biopsy was negative. My first G.I. suggested to fallow a dairy free diet and thought I could have IBS. I recently went for a second opinion but nothing was found and my celiac test was again negative. My symptoms are too extreme for IBS and I can't gain any weight. Due to mal nutrition and sickness I have very low energy. There are times that I get sick immediately after in taking food. I did my own re-search and decided to go gluten free for a month. Does anyone know of anybody or have been through the same experience? My doctor had suggested a carb free diet but since I already bought gluten free products I figure I should stick to that.

Thank you.

Hi there
I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. I had very similar problems as you after the birth of my child, such as loose stools, chronic fatigue, longer menstrual cycle, achy joints, rashes etc.
I went through all the tests like you to no avail and found nothing. So frustrating!!
I then asked the doctor to do a stool test for parasites, I have done some travelling and thought maybe, just maybe it could be that? My friend had parasites and hadn't even travelled, he had got them from a restaurant he reckons. Anyway, I came back positive for two parasites Dientamoeba Fragilis and Blastocystis Hominis. The doctor then tried to tell me that those particular parasites do no harm. I did some research on them and found that contrary to what my doctor said they do cause problems and I was able to source the right antibiotics to kill them. It is often common for people who suffer from IBS to have parasites and not realise it.
So to make a long story short, I feel that due to the damage that the parasites did while also being pregnant my body was completely depleted and developed many sensitivities to gluten etc. Which is why I am now on a gluten free diet so that I can try to build my body back to health again.
So just a thought you might want to go down this road and get tested for parasites to see if this may be the reason. Ask for stool tests in a preserving solution as this is the best way to detect them.
Whatever you choose to do, I wish you the best of luck and if you find out anything, please let me know how your doing.
Cheers! :) Rann

Hello - I'm so sorry for your illness. I was just diagnosed with celiac last week after a series of tests, a colonoscopy, etc. following a very scary bout with severe weight loss, anemia, etc. My kids were really fearful to see their mama sliding downhill so fast.

I've only been gluten free (aside from a few newbie "oops" moments) for a few weeks, and already my anemia is markedly better. If your symptoms don't improve with a new diet, I wonder if you've been tested for fructose malabsorption, Lyme disease, and also some broader spectrum tests for parasites/other infections? A friend had symptoms like mine and it turned out she had h.pylori. She's fine now.

Good luck!!

Dear MOM 1, I had the same symtpoms for 9 years and had no insurance and all the doctors told me it was me. It truley sounds like you have celiac. Have a colonscopy and endoscopy done. Don't ask for the test request them; and, be very stern when you do. I seriously almost died from this the gluten was attacking my body so that i was malnutrition and dehydrated serverely!! I was diagnosed 5 years ago april 20. Good Luck and Keep me informed!!
Have a good day!! my beatuiful girl
