Negotiations, Mediations
I spent the better part of the day in a legal mediation. Boring. Man, I'm glad I don't have to do that for a living We're involved in a patent litigation in which my husband is the inventor and the company who owns the patent has sued about 8-9 big companies for infringement. Because I'm a major stockholder, they wanted me to attend the mediation today to see if we could settle before trial, which is in October. It's not that I have anything of value to say or contribute to the mediation, they just wanted me there as a show of interest. If you ask me, it's a silly game of trying to figure out what the opposing party is willing to pay while they're trying to figure out what settlement we're willing to accept. The attorneys had lunch brought in and I was rather dismayed to see a bunch of lovely looking sandwiches, cookies, brownies, etc. Thankfully, they had a wonderful spinach salad, fruit, and chips. I also took some of the meat out of a sandwich, trying to get only the meat that was in the very center and hadn't touched the bread. I think I got a little gluten anyway because I've been having a little heartburn this afternoon.
