Labor Day

Mosaics

We're going over to some friends' house to play 42 tonight (for those who don't know what that is, it's a domino game). We play lots of rounds of 42 and eat, eat, eat. The hostess called today to ask if I could eat Hershey's chocolate; said she was going to make something gluten-free for me. She's really sweet, is a diabetic herself so she knows what it's like to watch her diet. There's usually lots of good stuff that I can eat anyway, though, and I had already made a chocolate cake to take so I'd be sure to have something sweet to eat.My husband has been working on his computer in front of the TV all day while watching the show "24" reruns. They're showing all of last season's shows all day. I can't believe he's watching all of them. I gave my living room furniture to a New Orleans displaced family this past week, so today I went and bought a new sectional sofa. I've had my eye on it for a while and was going to try to sell my other furniture. I'm glad that it worked out that I could give it to someone who really needed it instead. My sofa is supposed to be delivered on Friday. My neighbor had an acquaintance who had several family members who evacuated from New Orleans. They came away with absolutely nothing. A local apartment complex is providing rent-free apartments for several families. They needed anything and everything so several of us went through our houses and gathered up linens, toiletries, clothes, dishes, etc. Last we heard, they had everything they need at the moment.
