A delicious and tender burger with bacon, green onion, garlic, mushrooms, and a savory and sweet cheese out of Norway. YUMYUM!
Makes 9 (or 8 slightly larger) burgers.
Norwegian Gjet= goat ost=cheese
- 1 small pack of any THICK CUT bacon
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 2/3 cup baby cremini mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 27 slices Ski Queen brand gjetost cheese
- Against the Grain Buns (country style) or any gluten-free version you prefer
1. fry the bacon until crispy and leave on paper towel to drain then crumble. drain off all but 2 tbsp bacon grease. 2. add the garlic and green onions to the pan and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. DO NOT USE HIGH HEAT or you will burn the garlic. You want it to be fragrant, not browned and burnt! 3. using hands, mix together ground beef, bacon, onions and garlic, mushrooms, sour cream, and parsley. Form 8-9 patties. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. 4. Fry the patties to desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking place 3 gjetost slices on top of each burger to melt (cover pan with lid to speed melting). 5. Load your buns! ( I toast the buns lightly in the pan before I begin cooking the burgers)
*Note
If you MUST have ketchup, Beaver makes one that is gluten-free as well as corn and soy free. Its a slightly different but great flavour. These burgers are so good I skip the addition, however. Try it first without! You won't be sorry!
