Southern California Stops for Celiacs

Awareness of Celiac disease is spreading, by Joe, and restaurants are taking full advantage of the added patronage! Some stops that are required for the weary traveller, or simply the local resident, are listed below:
  1. In N Out- Now, I know they have these guys all up and down the coast, but the one in Laguna Niguel is very aware of Celiacs' needs (I go there all the time, and they are more than willing to accomodate)!
  2. Skosh Monahans. The owner's son has autism, and because of his condition, they created a gluten-free, casein free kid-friendly menu. The place is has a very laid back atmosphere and would cater to even the pickiest gluten-free consumers.
  3. Newport Rib Steakhouse. They are very willing to help out Celiacs. Their food is delicious!
  4. Z'Tejas- Tex/Mex lunch and dinner. Good food, good restaurant.

Also, BJ's Pizzeria, a favorite amongst high-schoolers for their low prices, big plates, and the infamous pazookie, is adding a gluten-free menu to their restaurant! They say that is will be coming soon, but how soon I am not sure. I will be checking frequently.

SALAI THAI RESTAURANT NEXT TO FEDEX SHIPPING STORE SHOPPING CENTER ON CORNER OF EL CAJON BLVD AND COLLEGE IN SAN DIEGO WILL COOK ITEMS WITH YOUR OWN gluten-free SOY SAUCE AND TELL YOU WHICH ITEMS ARE GLUTEN FREE (NO WHEAT SOY, NO OYSTER SAUCE) IF YOU ASK THEM. LITTLE SAIGON RESTAURANT IN OLYMPIA, WA WILL DO THE SAME, TOO, SO WE LEFT OUR OWN gluten-free SOY SAUCE THERE FOR THEM TO USE FOR US.

I echo what was said about In-N-Out. We have 2 near us and they are more than helpful when it comes to preparing our little girl's burger, even taking the care to double wrap it so it can't touch anything else in our box.

Lean and Green in La Jolla offers gluten free substitutes such as brown rice bowls, gluten free tortillas for their wraps and much more.

Two words, OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE, they even carry Redbridge Beer and prepare gluten free menu items separately!!!!!!!

A few other nationally known restaurants that have great gluten-free menus are Outback Steakhouse (which includes some delicious desserts and grown up cocktails) and PF Changs. I have had great luck at both of these restaurants and have left very happy with my experience.
