Eatin Out

Since I am dating and date-able and date-licious, I do eat out a lot. I like Outback Steakhouse, like most others who go my way aka against the Grain, but I have also become adept at ordering sushi, Mexican food, and meat/potato or fish/rice dishes without getting glutened. I also sometimes eat B4 the date and just order a drink and ice cream while the dude chows down.

My dates are usually pretty good about my food issues. I usually say, "I hate to sound high maintenance, but a year ago I found out I have an allergy to...."

Once I say I eat steak, they're cool. Funny, since I didn't eat red meat until my dx.

There was the case of the Rude Christian guy who kept mentioning what a BLESSING it is for me to be a celiac since I'll never have to worry about getting fat since I can't eat bread.

And there was the dude who tried to impress me by baking brownies for me. Regular. Betty Crocker ones. I smelled them baking all through the movie we watched. and then couldn't eat any. he knew about the no flour, but I guess it escaped him. He later called me stupid (we were discussing politics). hmmm.

And some drink beer and then try to kiss me, but I just say NO. Sometimes I just act mysterious and don't let on the reason I don't want a kiss. haha

At times I've been caught off guard when a date lasts unusually long and I can't eat so I just starve and say I'm not hungry and then immediately afterward stop at a gas station and chow down a Butterfinger or something on the way home.

Usually my purse and car stashes of chocolate and trail mix and Bumble Bars save me, though.

I DON"T like to cook my gluten free food for them, tho. I will if necessary, but it's too expensive to share the high quality fish and meat and things I cook for myself. I usually bake them some regular cookies- cheap-o, but I just do the mix where you dump it in the bowl cuz I don't like to measure or touch flour, but I will barely touch the dough to push it onto the baking sheet and then furiously wash my hands after.

The cookies ALWAYS work. haha
