I'm not feeling so good today. Stomach is very gurgly, churning, I'm bloated, my jeans are sooooo tight today! I"m foggy brained, sinus crud, fatigued and did I mention bloated? Hmmm, sounds like I got glutened! I have been so careful too. I can't seem to get ahead for falling behind lately.

well, today so far I've had an apple, almond butter and raisins.

I made some guacomole for lunch

I'm making shrimp for dinner.

My stomach is a little hungry right now but my abdomen feels so full and bloated I don't feel like eating. Sometimes I just feel like enough is enough with all this nonsense, between the RA, the hypoglycemia, the celiac. I am cranky today. So is son, he decided to do his school in his room so he's not snapping at anyone today. He's even mad at the dogs! I understand. I feel that way too, I have so much laundry, it's ridiculous but all I want to do is sleep.

We're traveling next week and I can't even imagine how hard it's going to be to eat gluten free. No one seems to take this seriously and all have the attitude of "this once won't hurt you" or "a little bit is no big deal" or "this is a celebration, you can go off your diet for the weekend". It plays like a broken record. gripe gripe gripe. Do I feel better now? no. I wonder why people think venting helps, it doesn't seem to help me much. Oh well, getting the laundry done will make me feel like I at least accomplished something today.

Ann, sorry you're not feeling too great, I know what that's like.

When I travel, I take my own stainless steel frying pan with me, as well as a cooler bag with my own food. I make sure the people I am visiting won't mind me cooking my own food. I've never had a problem, when I explained to them that otherwise I might end up being really sick. Who seriously wants to have a sick guest to look after?

I just cook myself stir fries. Fast, easy, and you only need that one pan. If you know without a doubt that one or more of the foods being served by the hosts is safe, you can always add some of that. Of course, it's always risky to do that.

Those are great ideas, thank you. I know they are having unsafe foods but it never occurred to me to take my own pan with me! I can easily do that and I don't think there will be *too* much of a fuss (there's always a fuss over something <_< )
I love stir fries so that would be really easy and one of the homes doesn't have a dishwasher so I wouldn't be spending all the visit washing dishes.
thank you!!

Oh, one thing I forgot is, that I also bring my own cutting board (for cutting up my vegetables) and spatula, making very sure I wash them right after I'm done and putting them in a special place, so nobody else uses them.

If you eat pasta, and want to bring your own, make sure you also bring a colander. And if you want to really lug a lot of stuff around, and want to eat your own toast, you better bring your toaster, too (okay, some people do all that, but it can get ridiculous).

I hope by bringing your own pan and cooking for yourself, you'll feel safer and enjoy yourself more.
