Greetings fellow Celiacs, GIGs, Wheat Allergens and respective family members. We are new to Greenville, SC (moved here from Richmond, VA) and are trying to build up our Greenville gluten-free restaurant list. My wife and daughter are Celiacs - diagnosed almost a year ago.

Below are some suggestions we have identified, but we are also looking for your input. Please post gluten-free establishments you know of or share your experiences (good and bad).

Here are some good finds we have made thus far in Greenville area:

  • The Celiac Handbook has a good list (including website links) to the national chain standards and a few local Greenville establishments Open Original Shared Link
    -Outback
    -Bonefish Grill
    -Carrabba's Italian Grill
    -Cheeseburger in Paradise
    -Doc Chey's Asian Kitchen
    -Don Pablo's
    -Outback Steakhouse
    -Uno Chicago Grill

  • Table 301 ( Open Original Shared Link ) is an excellent group of restaurants centered mostly in downtown Greenville along Main St. We have spoken to the master corporate chef and a couple of the individual restaurant chefs. Very knowledgable and very accommodating. They eagerly provided menu suggestions and offered to custom prepare, substitute, modify... anything they could do they offered to do. These are fine restaurants that we highly recommend!! The Table 301 is great: menu's, pictures, directions, more Open Original Shared Link

Travinia Italian Kitchen
1625 Woodruff Rd 864 458 8188 Is accomodating to Celiacs..They will cook gluten-free pasta for you, they don't list it on the menu , ask your server, the chef is very good & knowledgeable .

Larkins on the River
Downtown Greeville The Owner is Celiac, the chefs are very aware and accomodating.....

I have also found Smoke on the Water, can be helpful in selecting gluten-free foods from their menu.

Earthfare on Pelham Road is a good place for lunch as is Garner's on Atrium Drive..Both are health food stores, which I'm sure you have found by now.....they have extensive Gluten Free food selections, also Whole Foods on Woodruff Rd..

Just remembered another good lunch spot is 2 Chefs, lots of Salads and the help actually know what
Gluten is......

Welcome to Greenville....

Welcome to Greenville!

We had a very bad celiac experience with Cheeseburgers in Paradise, which made me sad because they were normally SO awesome. They appear to be gone, now, though (or moved to a new location?).
There are only 2 Uno's in SC right now- one is on the coast, and one is just outside of Columbia, so they are a bit of a jaunt to visit. (which makes me sad because last time I went up north, we had their gorgonzola chicken, which was to die for!)
Have nothing but good things to say about Outback. Have never had a problem eating there.
Garners is awesome, but... the fact that it is buffet style makes me nervous. Never know about cross contamination with the public serving themselves. They are great about labeling everything they put in their food though, and their gluten-free section of the grocery store is wonderful!
PF Changs is supposed to have a gluten-free menu, too. (I can't eat there, because I'm also allergic to rice.)

I was in Greenville last week and the server at Lemongrass (Thai restaurant) identified gluten free dishes on their menu. She mentioned having some ladies who eat lunch there that must also follow the diet. My massaman curry was awesome! At Pomegranate on Main the server also identified gluten free dishes on the menu. I had roasted salmon and rice (to die for) and the most incredible ice cream -- saffron pistachio with rosewater. Mmmmmmm!!! Highly recommend both places. Both are downtown.

Hello! Just got diagnosed and very curious about local restaurants as I love to dine out. Sweet Basil (Thai) on Pelham can make many dishes gluten free. It is great. Good luck and I look forward to finding out about other restaurants that offer good "gluten free" dining. Thanks for sharing.
