Back To Gluten

So I decided to take the plunge and go back on gluten while waiting for the GI appointment. I was going out of town this weekend and figured this was a good time to fall off the wagon. Yesterday, breakfast glutens included a piece of toast, lunch glutens included fried sweet potatoes that had been dredged in flour and a little slice of carrot cake. This morning I had 2 baking powder biscuits with my boiled egg, and at lunch some turkey soup (had noodles in it) with my salad. My stomach doesn't feel so good right now....I'm getting sharp pains right in the centre of my abdomen (just between the rib cage). I will use this as "ammunition" in trying to get my appointment with the GI sooner. I am sure that I am having a reaction already and am not looking forward to my many "non-intestinal" symptoms returning. I think I'll call their office tomorrow for an update on an "appointment" and let them know what is happening.

I am also reading "Dangerous Grains". What an eye opener. Everyone should read it and give a copy to their doctor.

Next day...still on gluten. My bunyons are flaring up again, I have an itchy rash between my fingers, I'm constipated and about 10 minutes after eating gluten I get sharp pains in my abdomen that last maybe 10 - 15 minutes. Also, last night before bed I had a couple of Ryvita crackers (my favorite) and had the worst sleep in ages and the craziest dreams. I have noticed in the past when having a gluten overload (pasta supper) I sleep terribly. I am keeping track of all they symptoms along with a food diary that I started about 2 1/2 weeks ago when I was gluten free. I wanted to make sure that I was really experiencing symptoms...I had minimal or no symptoms when I was gluten free and it is amazing how quickly some of these symptoms are returning.

I'm sure she'd like to not eat gluten, but I think the issue is that she wants to get tested for celiac disease. If you are gluten-free when you get the blood test, it sabotages the results.

Thanks, yes that is the story is that I am waiting to get tested and would like for the results to be accurate...if gluten free when tested, results could be skewed. There are those who choose not to go the formal testing route, but I am one of those who wants to know conclusively, partly for me and partly to convince others in my family to get tested (they aren't likely to without a formal diagnosis)
