CELIAC UNTREATED,LEADS TO BIGGER PROBLEMS

Celiac.com Sponsor (A13):

In 2004, I was in fairly good health. I had fibromyalgia, IBS, and chronic bone pain from Arthritis. In May we went on an all expense paid cruise to the caribbean Islands for 8 days. 2 months after we got back, I started getting severe diarrhea, all over aches, abdominal distress. It got so bad I ended up in ER, arrythmia bad, sometimes I thought it was my heart, as my chest hurt also. I found out later, that when they do a tram flap, they staple the mesh that they cover your insides with to your ribs. In ER they would check everything out, give me an IV, which made every thing feel pretty normal again The whole thing started getting worse. Diahrea was pure water, cramps, shakey and weak.I would be extremly bloated, and with the mesh covering my bowels, there wasnt any room to bloat, but in.I got real discouraged and depression, The Dr did a resting stress test, my heart was okay. Then I had a colonoscopy,to see if they could find anything abnormal.Unfortunitly we moved back to our home town before I found out the resullts. It would have saved my gastroenterologist, I have now a lot of questions. Maybe would got right to why I had so much pain on my right side. I just got my report from the gastroenterologist this month. Th gastroenterologist in the other town, 4 years ago, had removed some polyps in the colon, and 5 or 6 in the terminal ilium.Had I known this I would have stressed, as my mother and her mother died of cancer in the terminal illium, which I guess is rare. Went to a new Primary care. She tested me for celiac, it was positive. I had lost 57 lbs over about 6 months. I had malnutrition, dehydrated and failure to thrive. I went gluten free. I slowly started feeling better, I was Lactose and Casin intolerant also. I kept having diahrea, I would have spells of incontin diahrea YUK..my lowr legs and feet were tingly asleep feeling. I was diagnosed with Diabetes by an endochronologist. He sent me to a gastoenterologist who did a multitude of tests, only came up with gastroparesis. All during I was going down hill, I hurt all over, would get shortness of breath when trying to get to the bathroom. Also this whole time I had a continual pain on my right side. I thought it may be a complication from a tram flap surgery I had in 2002. Maybe adhesions blocking my bowel. I went to OHSU in portland, and the plastic surgeron did surgery and repaired a hernia, and repaired some mesh that had pulled loose from the clamps on my side. But the pain continued afterwards.SRight in the spot my appendix used to be. In April last year I was put on a liquid diet,4 yogurts, 6 glasses of carnation breakfast with protein powder. There is not one day in this whole time that I have been able to be up all day, do any normal routine things. I wear a pad to bed because I never know when the incontin. diahrea will kick in. It always 3 or 4 in the morning. when this happens it goes all day and I am completly. Now I am vitamin D defic. I have gone to 2 different primary care doctors, they dont know what to do, but cause me a lot of confusion by saying....NO you dont have diabetes, NO you dont have gastroparesis. They give me tranquilers, one even gave me bi polar meds. My gastro. Dr the last time said "you just have to live with it"In my colonoscopy report from out of town said they removed polyps from the terminal illium. My mother and her mother died from cancer in the terminal ilium

I called the gastroenterologist today and said, make me an appointment soon, I don't feel like I will make it through another bad spell of the bad diahrea. It is foul smelling greasy. I have dry itchy skin.My trigliserides went from 172 (2005 262 in (2007) and 400last month. abnormal results from ultra sound 2006,FAIRLY ECOGEICITY OF THE PANCREAS SOMTIMES SEEN TO BE NORMAL OR REFLECT IMFLAMITORYPROCESS ALSO OF THE LIVER BUT COULD REFLECT FATTY TISSUE. I dont know what else to add, except Im worried, NOBODY else has put this altogether. I am going to ask for a colonoscopy to see if the little nodes have grown back. That would solve my right side pain, where it feel my intake gets stuck, then breaks loose. sometimes in tiny yellow chuncks before the blast of diahra. I am 69 Years old, have gained up to 125 lbs, and kind of leveled. Please anyone that has any Ideas let me know
