Are Pringles Gluten-Free?

Pringles are a popular brand of potato crisp manufactured by Kellogg’s, and they are available in a huge variety of flavors. Are Pringles gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease? The short answer is no. Pringles are not considered gluten-free, and are not recommended for people with celiac disease.

Pringles are not labeled gluten-free. Nearly all flavors of Pringles are made with wheat starch. Technically, the FDA permits wheat starch in foods labeled gluten-free, provided that the wheat starch is specially processed to remove gluten to below 20 ppm.

However, wheat starch that is not explicitly labeled as being gluten-removed to below 20 ppm gluten, is not considered gluten-free. Also, and this is crucial, Pringles does list wheat as an allergen on its labels. 

For these reasons, Pringles are not considered gluten-free, and are not recommended for people with celiac disease.
