Celiac.com 11/24/2022 - Fast food restaurants are not known for abundant gluten-free offerings. If you are at a Wendy's, the number of safe food offerings are somewhat limited. But what about the Frosty? First, for anyone who might not know, the Frosty is Wendy's version of a milkshake/soft serve dessert. The Frosty is available in chocolate and strawberry flavors.

We get more than a few question about Wendy's Frosty frozen dessert. Specifically, is Wendy's Frosty gluten-free, and safe for people with celiac disease? The answer is yes, they don't contain any gluten ingredients, and are naturally gluten-free.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
The good news, according to both nogluten.com, and the Wendy's website, is that both the strawberry and chocolate Frosty at Wendy's are naturally gluten-free.

Wendy's No Gluten Ingredient Frostys Include:

    • Chocolate Frosty
    • Peppermint Frosty
    • Strawberry Frosty

Soy and milk are the only allergens listed, and this disclaimer is on their site, so be sure that you watch them make it so there is no cross-contamination:

    • "We provide known instances of allergens; however, cross contact is possible due to common handling and preparation areas in our restaurants. We are unable to guarantee that any menu item can be completely free of allergens. Customers with allergies and sensitivities should exercise judgment when ordering."

Because of this, unless wheat or gluten ingredients are added to the Frosty, we consider both flavors of Wendy's Frosty to be naturally gluten free and safe for people with celiac disease.  So enjoy accordingly!

As always, read labels carefully, avoid gluten ingredients.

Vanilla Frosty- check their ingredients first, since malt may be added to enhance the vanilla flavor.

Which Fast Food Outlets Offer the Best Gluten-Free Options?
Celiac.com 02/04/2019 - With the rise in popularity of the gluten-free diet, and with more people being diagnosed with Celiac disease, more restaurants are offering gluten-free alternatives. While this is a great advancement, it’s important to note that not all gluten-free restaurant choices are created equal.
