    Celiac.com 10/22/2014 - For my Girl Scout Gold Award I created a poster, pamphlet, and informational sheets as one part of my project. The poster covers definitions, symptoms, statistics, and links for further information. The pamphlet was created with the title of “Is Eating Gluten-Free Right for Me?” (See Download Link Below). The different parts of the pamphlet include “Having Celiac”, “Having a Gluten Sensitivity”, “Misconceptions about the Gluten Free Diet”, “Being Tested for Celiac”, and “About the Author”. 

    The informational sheets were based off of personal experience and were designed to help people who were already on the diet and looking for help. They were titled “Going to a Party”, “Going out to Dinner”, “Cross Contamination”, and “Hidden Gluten”.

    The next part of my project was to share my materials with the public. I contacted many health food stores in order to have a table in front of the store where I could set up my information. I also contacted local libraries. I set up my display at my local library for the month of August. I would go to the library on occasion and stand with the display to talk about my project and answer any questions. I also brought my project to a library in the town next to mine.

    I contacted different health food stores, pharmacies, and doctor’s offices to put my pamphlet in. I was able to put a good number of pamphlets in these locations.

    To reach out to people who have celiac, I went to two celiac support group meetings and a walk for celiac disease. While at the support group meetings I explained my project, gave out gluten free food samples, and handed out the materials I created. At the walk, I had a table set up where I told people about my project and handed out my materials.

    I was looking for the download link for the pamphlet & I don’t see it below the article. My daughter has celiac & she is always having to explain herself & the disease. Your pamphlet sounds great!!

    I think maybe they do. If I recall correctly, I told some girl scouts selling their cookies outside a Safeway store that I couldn't buy from them because I needed to avoid gluten. They replied that they had some gluten-free version for sale. Then they had me over a barrel and I had to come up with another excuse not to buy their over-priced goods. This would have several years ago so maybe my memory is not serving me correctly. And it could also be they don't offer them everywhere.

    The problem is not only Gluten that has enormous effects on the intestinal tract. Any sort of additives used that contain; emulsifiers, phosphates, calcium stearoyl,  diglycerides, and so forth can damage the small intestine lining, the stomach and the large intestine as well as other vital organs. Even the urethra and ureters coming off the Kidneys can be effected. 

     

    One really needs to take in to account that the FDA speaks about "amounts" as if that one bite is or was the only bite you will or have had. It matters not the size of the bite, but rather the length of time in months or years, you may have consumed such products. The time length of consumption is what leads up to biomass accumulation which now puts everything into full perspective. 

    The FDA and CDC are full of scholastic graduates and researchers that know better or at least should know better. To put a toxin or something lethal into our food systems then refer to it as an additive and okay to consume in small amounts is complete ludacris!

    Last time I checked, poisoning means to consume a lethal substance or leave it somewhere where an animal or insect can or does consume it, like strychnine for mice and rats. The point is that poisons are used for killing. Killing is murder and murder of any other nature is held accountable by law. 

    These people in charge like the FDA need to be held accountable any time someone gets sick from a lethal toxin that has been added food, crops, dairy or anything that's being consumed; regardless of the amount. 

    When we the people of this country fail to act together and put an end to this sort of tyranny, then not only are the people who add the chemicals into our food systems accountable, but so are we. This is exactly why the CDC, EPA, and other acronyms like the FDA continue to make claims about things being natural and okay for you in small amounts. It's also why our communities are still providing pesticides, herbicides and whatever else to be sprayed on top of the medicinal plants that grow along roadways, like Milk Thistle, Firewheel, Dandelions, Indian Blankets and others to name a few. 

    "Silence is a a war crime" and a crime against humanity as a whole. We all need to take action by stepping forward in our communities and becoming the voice like a cymbal or gong that will not be silenced. It is our duty to put an end to either the FDA and EPA or remove the people and hold them accountable. 

    If we do nothing, then we too are accountable and have no one to blame, but ourselves...

    There is an app called "Yuka" it helps tremendously with identifying what exactly is in your store bought foods. You scan the item and if it's in their system, it will provide a rating between 1-10. One being horrible for you and anything 5-10 being much better. You won't believe how many products have lethal substances within them. 

    Gluten is merely one substance. There are literally hundreds if not thousands that are lethal to the human GI Tract.

    Take away all the pesticides, chemical fertilizers and preservatives and whole nations would starve. The sheer population of the world now demands the use of these aids. Has it been overdone? Sure it has. Do we need to be more careful with them? Sure we do. Do we rely too much on them? Yes, we do. Do we need to work better with nature in our agricultural production methods? Yes, we do. But it's naive to ban them altogether. In the big picture, they are absolutely necessary if we are to avoid famine. Yes, it is partly profit driven but so is the "organic food" industry with their over-priced and stunted fruits and vegetables.

    And the fact is, despite all those toxins we take in, we live longer than people did generations ago.

    How can you say we live longer? To live longer unhealthy is not really living, now is it? That's just a foolish remark on your part. In addition, generations ago, people worked much harder physically and for longer hours than they do today. They had natures medicines right here on the earth and they used them wisely. So much so, that the capitalist frame of mind with big AG corporations took over the crops. Banned the natural plants as invasive species and created round-up and other things to kill them off. In fact, they now burn these plants because the citizens are unaware what their great grandparents knew "generations ago" regarding  the enormous benefits weeds like dandelion, milk thistle, valerian root and even white willow bark did to help them stay healthy. 

    Over the years, the offspring of the generations long ago, got lazier and wanted an easy way out of working so hard. In doing so, they gave up their freedoms of having the ability to heal themselves versus relying on a failed system to heal them. 

    Lucky for humanity, the bird tribes have returned and they are now educating farmers in the Americas and abroad how to properly grow food and do it with sustainability. 

    The Eagle and Condor have returned. They were phenomenal stewards and in-line with the mother earth. They will be humanities guide into the future. And should they not succeed... Then mother earth will wreak more havoc on the world over to the point that famine will be the least of your concerns... 

    It's evident, with your trivial regurgitated reply which side of the fence your on. Yet, you have failed to realize if they are to be continued, there will also be a complete dying of human life as a whole. Earth will heal itself, regardless if humans are here or not.

    We both live longer and healthier today. Our ancestors died younger and suffered their own disease issues. They just didn't keep data like we do today and didn't have names for all their causes of death. A lot of our current day health problems are in fact the result of the fact that we live longer on the average than our ancestors did. Yes, I agree that we suffer from diseases related to inactivity and obesity more than did our ancestors because we don't have to work hard to produce food. But in the balance, we still live longer and are healthier today. And I agree, we do need to take better care of the earth and ourselves. But the earth is not my mother.

    And may I ask what any of this has to do with the subject of the above article? Seems like you have used it as some kind of launching pad to vent pent up anger about environmental concerns. Have you tried the Girl Scout gluten free cookies? Are you a celiac or gluten sensitive even? You seem dismissive of the reality of gluten disorders.

    Celiac.com 09/04/2013 - Just in, this little gem from Open Original Shared Link: News that one in three Americans are avoiding or reducing gluten in their diets seems to have gotten through to major American dough manufacturer Pillsbury, which says it will be releasing a line of refrigerated gluten-free items, including pie and pastry dough, chocolate chip cookie dough, and thin crust pizza.
    Pillsbury will make these allergen-free items available at mass scale in local and chain grocers this month. Among other groups, these products are likely aimed at regaining many of the folks who love Pillsbury's croissants and biscuits, but who are now gluten-free.
    Additionally, the company is also partnering with chef Cat Cora, and Gluten-free advocate Danna Korn to develop gluten-free recipes...

    Celiac.com 10/02/2013 - The sad word has arrived that Sugar Shack Donuts at Leigh and Lombardy streets in Richmond, Virginia will no longer craft delicious gluten-free donuts and other gluten-free delights.
    Despite tremendous popularity, or, perhaps because of it, Sugar Shack Donuts has ended its vegan and gluten-free Specialty Sundays, and ceased making gluten-free doughnuts altogether.
    It seems that for every customer full of praise for Sugar Shack's gluten-free treats, there was another full of complaints about long lines and low inventory.
