    Gluten-Free Ale Wins Gold in the "Olympics of Beer"

    Another gluten-free beer has won top honors in a major beer competition. The latest champion is "La Grosa Rita Margarita-Style Ale," from Milwaukee's Lakefront Brewery.

    06/24/2022 - The number of accolades and awards for gluten-free beers has risen steadily over the years. We've seen a number of top place finishes for gluten-free beers in the overall category in more than a few beer competitions.

    We've seen wins by Ghostfish Brewing of Seattle, and Omission, among others. The latest victory belongs to "La Grosa Rita Margarita-Style Ale," crafted by Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee. According to brewery's tasting notes, "La Grosa" features a lime forward, a bit of agave and orange sweetness, balanced with a sea salt saltiness. At just 4.5 abv, the beer keeps it light and refreshing. According to Lakefront, La Gross Rita is made with: Water, rice, agave, lime, orange juice, salt, hops and yeast.

     La Grosa Rita Margarita-Style Ale won gold at the World Beer Cup took place on May 5th, 2022 at the Craft Beer Conference in Minneapolis. Malted with Rice Extract, and brewed with Zeus and Willamette hops, La Grosa Rita Margarita-Style Ale offers "All the makings of a margarita, minus the tequila.     As someone who tries to make the world a better place, I do not mince my words.  This is not about someone being offended, insomuch as we can all strive for more and better information.  (I will absolutely call out incorrect information.  I did not do so in this instance. Why are you offended?)

    There certainly is a place for being direct with people but usually it can be done in a kind spirit. I agree we should strive for quality information but that doesn't always have to be done in an edgy way. As forum moderators we endeavor to make this forum a welcoming place, not a hostile one.

    Ghostfish Brewing Wins Gluten-free Gold at Great American Beer Festival
    Celiac.com 11/27/2015 - The results of the 2015 Great American Beer Festival are in and the big winner in the gluten-free category is Ghostfish Brewing of Seattle, which brought home the gold and the bronze in that category.
    Washington Breweries did very well overall, raking in 13 medals across all categories.
    The Gluten-Free Beer category had 24 submissions, with Ghostfish Brewery taking home the gold for their Watchstander Stout, and the bronze for Ghostfish Grapefruit IPA, while Portland’s Ground Breaker Brewing took home the silver for their IPA No. 5.

      Newer "gluten challenge" guidelines call for 4-6 slices of bread (or the gluten equivalent) daily for at least 2 weeks before the antibody testing blood draw or the endoscopy with/biopsy. But I would give it longer than two weeks to be sure you get a valid testing experience, at least four weeks. So, if you ever want to get tested again for a formal diagnosis...

      How much gluten were you eating on a daily basis before your blood and biopsy tests for celiac disease were done? It's recommended to eat lots of gluten, at least two slices of wheat bread per day for 6-8 weeks before getting tested, otherwise results could be false negative. You can still have celiac disease with negative blood test results, although...
