    Celiac.com 04/08/2019 - In case we’re not clear, if you’re gluten-free, you can thank film star Gwyneth Paltrow. And, according to the Shakespeare In Love star, you can also thank her if you practice yoga.

    That’s because, after being pilloried and even called a "witch" for her advocacy of the centuries old meditation practice, she persisted, and Westerners came to embrace yoga, all thanks to Paltrow.

    The same for the popularity of the gluten-free diet. In a recent interview with the New York Times, the Goop CEO recounted how her 2015 gluten-free cookbook was the spark that set off the gluten-free diet explosion. The book, IT'S ALL GOOD: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great, enjoyed brisk sales, and garnered positive reviews.

    Forgetting for a moment that the gluten-free diet explosion was well under way by 2015, Paltrow wants people to know that, when her book first came out, “[t]he press was super negative and there were personal attacks about what I was feeding my children and what kind of mother I am…Now the gluten-free market is huge."

    The popularization of long-established or already trending practices seems to be a common theme in Paltrow’s company, Goop. As proof of her visionary nature, Paltrow relates an anecdote about showing up to practice yoga at an LA studio, and being asked by the young woman at the desk if she’d ever done yoga before. Without missing a beat, Paltrow let it be known that "You have this job because I've done yoga before."

    So, if you’re standing in a grocery store, and contemplating your favorite gluten-free items, be sure to take a moment to thank the originator of the whole healthier-than-thou, yoga and gluten-free movement.

    Hmm she invented all those things.  I had no idea. Plus invented the role of a yoga studio greeter. How novel.

    I also read she invented the "stripper butt" as well.

    I guess I thought people were born with a gluteus maximus regardless of their profession. So my butt doesn't matter?

    I guess I have much to learn. 

    Nonetheless Gwen is her own best Self PR  person. Although some of us more humble folks could say she makes quite a few narcissistic statements. 

    Maybe she invented narcissism too .

    In 4 words, "I don't think so."  Having been diagnosed with celiac 16 years ago, I now many, many folks who were gluten-free before she took it up.  And in many ways she has made a mess by popularizing this way of eating.  IT IS NOT A FAD for those of us who have a disease.  Stop giving her credit.

    This woman is dangerous. She encourages people to take coffee enemas, go gluten free and other stupid ideas that can harm people. She is not that good of an actress either. People should stop listening to her wacky ideas before they are seriously harme

    Hashimoto's thyroiditis attacks and destroys the thyroid cells, and is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the U.S. Signs and symptoms of Hashimoto's disease include constipation, fatigue, sluggishness, depression, muscle weakness, pain and stiffness in the joints, unexplained weight gain, and a hoarse voice.

    Actress Famke Janssen Goes Gluten-free
    Celiac.com 06/03/2017 - Dutch actress Famke Janssen is perhaps best known for her roles in movies like X-Men and Taken. But now Janssen is in the news after revealing that a serious intolerance to gluten has forced her to revise her diet and to go completely gluten-free.
    During an interview on U.S. cooking show The Chew, Famke, 52, says she had already taken a test for gluten antibodies, and that she "knew what the outcome was gonna be, I already knew it, so I was stuffing my face with everything that I could find that had gluten in it."

    Celiac.com 10/31/2018 - It’s official. Twitter official. Kourtney Kardashian has made peace with wheat and dairy, and called off her highly touted gluten-free, dairy-free diet.
