Celiac.com 06/05/2021 - We get a lot of questions from celiac community members wondering if certain products are gluten-free. One question we see a lot is about beers.
Specifically, is Coors Light gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease? The short answer is no, Coors Light is not gluten-free, and is not recommended for people with celiac disease.
Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
The longer answer is that both Coors and Coors Light beers contain the following ingredients: Water, Barley Malt, Corn Syrup, Yeast, & Hop Extract.
However, MillerCoors did once make a gluten-free beer called "Coors Peak," which was certified gluten-free, but it may have been discontinued (it was available in Oregon for a while).
Because Coors Light contains barley malt, it is not gluten-free, and so not recommended for people with celiac disease. If you're looking for a specific Coors Light product that contains alcohol and is gluten-free, then you might consider a Coors Light Seltzer. We recently wrote about how numerous alcoholic seltzers, including Bud Light Seltzer are gluten-free, and safe for people with celiac disease. If you're looking for a gluten-free beer, then try one of the many gluten-free or gluten-removed beers on the market.
