Celiac.com 11/20/2021 - We get a lot of questions from celiac community members wondering if certain brands and products are gluten-free. One question we see a lot is about Jell-O brand products. Lately, we've seen a lot of questions about Jell-O brand gelatin desserts. Specifically, is Jell-O gluten-free? Here's the rundown.

Jell-O is a popular gelatin dessert manufactured by Kraft Foods. Kraft makes a number of other products under the Jell-O brand, including Jell-O Instant Pudding and Jell-O No Bake Cheesecake, but this information only covers Jell-O gelatin desserts and snacks.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
Jell-O gelatin dessert typically contains the non-gluten ingredients like: Sugar, Gelatin, Adipic Acid (For Tartness), Contains Less Than 2% Of Natural And Artificial Flavor, Disodium Phosphate And Sodium Citrate (Control Acidity), Fumaric Acid (For Tartness), Yellow 6, Red 40, Bha (Preservative). The packaged Jell-O Gelatin Snacks also contain fruit juice concentrates. Pretty much only the flavorings change.

Kraft does not label their Jell-O products as gluten-free, but all flavors of Jell-O gelatin dessert are made without gluten ingredients, and no gluten or wheat ingredients are listed as allergens. If you're a stickler for gluten-free labeling for all your products, then avoid it, but otherwise, don't worry.

Also, we haven't seen any complaints from our Celiac.com audience about Jell-O causing any gluten-related symptoms. For these reasons, we consider any variety or flavor of Jell-O or Sugar-Free Jell-O gelatin desserts to be safe for people with celiac disease, unless labeled otherwise. Check the Kraft website for specific product information.

Kraft Jell-O gelatin dessert products do not contain gluten, and list no gluten allergens on their labels, including:

    • Jell-O Berry Blue Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Blackberry Fusion Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Black Cherry Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Blueberry Pomegranate Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Cherry Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Cranberry Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Mango Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Lemon Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Lime Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Orange Sugar Free Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Peach Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Watermelon Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Strawberry Banana Gelatin Dessert
    • Jell-O Original Strawberry Gelatin Snacks
    • Jell-O Raspberry Sugar Free
    • Jell-O Sours Blue Raspberry Gelatin Snacks

As always, read labels, avoid gluten, and choose carefully.

Celiac.com 06/25/2020 - Jell-O Pudding and Jell-O Instant Pudding are manufactured by Kraft Foods, and while Kraft does not specifically label Jell-O pudding products as gluten-free, nearly all of them are made without gluten ingredients, and so we regard them as gluten-free, and safe for people with celiac disease.
