Is Mott's applesauce gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease?

Celiac.com 06/05/2024 - We get a lot of questions about which products are gluten-free, and which are not. One question we've seen frequently has been a question about Mott's Applesauce.

Mott's is a popular brand of applesauce. Apples and applesauce are naturally gluten-free foods. Unless gluten ingredients are added after processing, most brands of applesauce, including Motts are gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease.

I've been eating Motts without any problems for years. I read all labels and it was pretty clear that apple sauce did not contain gluten. It only takes about an hour or less for accidental consumption of gluten to hit me hard.
