Celiac.com 03/07/2014 - Our latest gluten-free celebrity news comes with word from eon line.com that actress Jennifer Esposito has sparked a bit of a dustup with Rachael Ray over an episode of Ray's 3 in the Bag that aired earlier this month on Food Network, in which Ray shared some favorite gluten-free recipes.

Photo: Wikimedia Commons--David of EarthActress-turned-activist Jennifer Esposito called Ray out for failing to make any mention of celiac disease, and dubbed Ray's efforts a "wasted opportunity," for failing to mention celiac disease, gluten sensitivity or cross-contamination, adding: "Why be responsible?"

Esposito also tweeted, "That would mean @rachaelray would have to understand what she is actually speaking about."

Esposito also tweeted a link to a post in Open Original Shared Link which slammed Ray.

The former Blue Bloods star ended by tweeting: It's a shame that their r so many suffering at the hands of ignorance such as this."

Esposito claims her doctor-advised 2012 medical leave from the show for celiac disease led to her suspension from the CBS series.

My guess is that Rachael Ray is not aware of the far reaching effects of gluten sensitivity and celiac disease. Insults were unnecessary and don't help our cause.

Celebrity should not be used as a blunt object in the name of activism. Shaming does not advance awareness, but initiates disdain.

I so agree with Arg - your attack on Rachel Ray looks shortsighted and self centered - do you have any idea how many problems, illnesses and issues there are in the world today? It would be impossible for anyone to stay on top of it all ... you should pick on people who are truly doing harm in the world ... Like persons who publicly attack innocent people for starters ...Newsflash ... The show wasn't ABOUT you ...

    Celiac.com 12/02/2009 - It's off-again, on-again for the plagiarism lawsuit against , co-host of TV's The View.
Recently, a judge dismissed a plagiarism suit against Elisabeth Hasselbeck for her book called The gluten-free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide. The judge threw out the original complaint because a rival celiac disease author, Susan Hassett, failed to provide supporting documentation for her claim.
Barely two weeks later, Hassett, author of the self-published, Living With Celiac Disease author, has filed a second lawsuit, in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts, alleging copyright infringement. Hasselbeck's book is published by Center Street press, and made the New York Times Bestseller list.

    Dunkin Ditches Gluten-free Donuts
Celiac.com 02/10/2014 - Dunkin' Donuts is quietly ditching its much publicized, much anticipated campaign to introduce gluten-free donuts across the nation.
Information is scant, as Dunkin' has not issued any official press release. Dunkin' Donuts did, however, release the following statement to Gluten-Free Living:
"In 2013, we tested a gluten-free Cinnamon Sugar Donut and Blueberry Muffin in select markets. We are currently assessing the results of this test, as well as feedback from our guests and franchisees, and we do not have plans to launch these products nationally at this time. We are continuing to develop additional gluten-free products for future tests, and we remain committed to exploring ways to offer our guests gluten-free choices."
    Word is that the rollout...
