Celiac.com 07/31/2019 - The Season 7 winner of the popular show, ‘MasterChef Junior,’ Che Spiotta, got started in cooking by eating gluten-free and trying to come up with good things to eat.

Season 7 began with 24 contestants, all between the ages of 8 and 13. By the time the two-hour cook-off finale arrived, it was down to Ivy Angst, Malia Brauer and Che Spiotta.

The finalists were challenged produce a three-course meal in front of an audience that included friends and family members.

When the dust settled and the tasting was done, judges Gordon Ramsay, Christina Tosi and Aron Sanchez awarded the $100,000 top prize Che Spiotta, the 12-year-old from upstate New York.

Responding to reporters from Hudson Valley One, Che said his interest in cooking started as young as 3 or 4 years-old, because he was gluten-free and “there were just lots of foods [he] couldn’t eat.”

His experimentation led to a love of cooking that led him to 'MasterChef Junior.' As for what he loves most about cooking, Che says, “I love the creativity of it."

The Daily Show's Jon Stewart Nails Celiac Disease!
Celiac.com 06/26/2014 - In a segment that was noteworthy for its accuracy, focus and generous time allotment, The Daily Show host, Jon Stewart, opened up about his son’s experiences with celiac disease.
For the segment, Stewart interviewed actress and gluten-free baker Jennifer Esposito about celiac disease, and about Esposito’s new book, and gluten-free bakery, both named Jennifer’s Way.
Esposito talked about her own years-long struggles with chronic symptoms of celiac disease, and with her difficulties in getting a proper diagnosis.
In what might be one of the most widely watched, in depth talks about celiac disease on major television, the show devoted nearly six minutes to the subject.
In classic Stewart style, the segment was both accurate and informative, while still...

Gluten-free Wasteland Girl Scout Crushes Cookie Sales
Celiac.com 03/28/2017 - A savvy Girl Scout from New Jersey is close to selling more cookies than anyone in history thanks to her brutal reviews of the sweet treats that have gone viral.
Employing brutally honest cookie reviews, skilled networking and aggressive sales tactics, 11-year-old Charlotte McCourt set a new Girl Scout cookie-selling world record by selling 21,477 boxes of cookies, shattering the 35 year old previous record.
Originally, Charlotte was aiming to sell at least 300 boxes. As part of her effort, McCourt rated all of her cookies on a scale from 1 to 10, and included frankly worded reviews. She then emailed the rankings and reviews of her offerings to her dad's "rich" friend in hopes of swaying him to purchase a bulk of her 300-box goal.

Kylie Jenner Names New Eye Shadow Shade “Gluten-Free” And Twitter Hilarity Ensues
Celiac.com 08/02/2018 - For those who’ve been craving a juicy gluten-free social media story, crave no longer. None other than Kylie Jenner, younger sister to Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, has stepped up to oblige by labeling one of the shades of her eye shadow collection “Gluten Free.” It’s true, you can Google it.
In case you, like me, have been out of the Kardashian loop lately, Kylie has most recently hitched her star to the growing makeup empire of sister Kourtney, after working with Kim and Khloe on their makeup lines.
It seems that Kylie decided that one of the colors in their eye shadow palette was just begging to be called “Gluten Free.” Cue the reaction.
Meanwhile, on Twitter some celiac folk thought it was hilarious, others less than funny.
