Celiac.com 09/04/2013 - Just in, this little gem from Open Original Shared Link: News that one in three Americans are avoiding or reducing gluten in their diets seems to have gotten through to major American dough manufacturer Pillsbury, which says it will be releasing a line of refrigerated gluten-free items, including pie and pastry dough, chocolate chip cookie dough, and thin crust pizza.

Wiki Media CommonsPillsbury will make these allergen-free items available at mass scale in local and chain grocers this month. Among other groups, these products are likely aimed at regaining many of the folks who love Pillsbury's croissants and biscuits, but who are now gluten-free.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
Additionally, the company is also partnering with chef Cat Cora, and Gluten-free advocate Danna Korn to develop gluten-free recipes that highlight Pillsbury's products.

When asked by reporters for The Daily Meal if she had any plans to release a gluten-free cookbook, Cora said, “Maybe I will! She says her media team is always on the lookout for vegan and gluten-free recipe opportunities and that she hasn't seen many gluten-free cookbooks out there.

Check in with celiac.com for more news on Pilsbury's gluten-free efforts, and on Cat Cora's potential gluten-free cookbook.

I love these doughs because they're very convenient. My neighbor found surprisingly at a 99 cent store and bought them for me. Ever since I've been experimenting with them with different recipes. Since then I have found them at Albertsons too. So anyone from the Dallas area that's where you can find these products.

I read a month or more ago they were releasing a pizza crust, but have yet to see it at any of my grocers. "pie and pastry dough, chocolate chip cookie dough, and thin crust pizza" - does this include crescent rolls? It doesn't look to be crescent rolls or biscuits, etc. However, I hope so, because like everyone else, that is the one thing I miss from Pillsbury. I have recipes that I routinely make (or made) that use them and I can't make them anymore. Fingers crossed for crescent rolls!

I've tried the Pillsbury's gluten-free pie crust dough and the gluten-free thin crust pizza dough. I have to give the pie crust dough a resounding 5-star rating as it is a fantastic product. I baked a peach pie with it and both my husband and I couldn't believe how similar "regular" pie crust in character the product it is. However, the thin crust pizza dough leaves much to be desired. I cannot even rate it a 1-star as it is very tough, tasteless and very oily in texture. I hope Pillsbury keeps working on improving this product as there are many other gluten-free pizza dough products on the market that are quite good.

I've tried the Pillsbury gluten-free pizza dough and it was horrible and gummy. I followed the directions exactly. I can make pizza crust gluten-free that tastes way better than that. I'm hoping they come out with crescent dough though and its decent. I'm dying for a buttery crescent roll!

I just used the gluten free pastry dough for an apple pie crust. It's wonderful, and doesn't have any of that "off" taste that can come with gluten-free substitutes.

I discovered these products at my local Von's grocery store and had to try them. The chocolate chip cookie dough is delicious, especially warm. The pie crust is really good, better than any I've made from scratch. And the pizza dough was way too chewy, so I won't buy that one again. All in all, they are a good option.

Why can't I find the ingredients anywhere. Are these egg and dairy free as well?
