    Signa-Haiti 100% Gluten-Free Breadfruit Flour

Reviewed and edited by a celiac disease expert.
    Signa-Haiti 100% Gluten-Free Breadfruit Flour -

Celiac.com 09/28/2012 - Breadfruit is a starchy fruit that grows mainly in the Pacific Islands. It is highly nutritious, with high fiber, potassium and vitamin C content, as well as a low glycemic index. Signa Haiti's Gluten-Free 100% Breadfruit Flour captures these nutritive qualities and makes a tasty wheat flour alternative.

I am a huge fan of Indian food, so when I saw that Signa Haiti has a recipe for garlic naan on their website, I got very excited. It wasn't quite as 'puffy' as what I'm used to, but it was still quite good, with a subtle 'potatoey' taste that went very well with saag paneer.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
There are a bunch of recipes on the Signa-Haiti recipe website that I'm going to try, including Haitian cereal, a sort of cream of wheat alternative. This flour shows promise and I think it would do very well in a blend with quinoa flour.

Owing to a weird set of circumstances, I have found myself the proud owner of a bag of this flour. It is amazing! Light and airy with a nice flavor. I highly recommend it!

Interesting post, but the breadfruit flour might as well be on Mars as it cannot be obtained anywhere except Haiti. It's been a long time since the original post, but still no place to buy breadfruit flour in the U.S.

Judy, what does this have to do with obtaining breadfruit flour from Haiti?

Dr. Praeger's Gluten Free Fish Sticks and Fish Fillets Hit the Spot
Celiac.com 07/30/2007 - When I was growing up, one of the favorite things for my brother and I to have for dinner was fish sticks served hot out of the oven along with our favorite French fries.
Sure, my mom made many healthy and nutritious meals. In fact, much to our chagrin, she favored healthy and nutritious meals, while my brother and I used to beg for things that tasted great and were sure to put a smile on our faces; like warm, crunchy fish sticks.
Even through college, every so often, when I was in need of a comfort food fix, I'd head to the store for a box of my favorite fish sticks and a bag of my favorite   French fries, careful to remember the requisite bottle of ketchup.
So, when I began to follow a gluten-free diet, I thought I'd never again know the ...

Celiac.com 07/30/2007 - I love pizza, and being gluten-free put a pretty serious crimp in my ability to enjoy a fresh, custom-made pizza.
Also, I've never been particularly fond of frozen pizzas of any kind, but I don't exactly have time to make my own crusts from scratch.
Even when I could eat pizza from my favorite local pizzeria, I loved to make my own pizza from fresh pizza crust, and to add my own toppings and pull it piping hot and bubbling fresh from my own oven. Since I went on a gluten-free diet, I've pretty much given up on ever again really enjoying pizza piled high with my favorite things like pepperoni and mushrooms.
But Dad's has come to my rescue and returned pizza to it's proper place of honor I my life. Dad's make a gluten-free pizza crust that fits...

Joy Cone Gluten-free Sugar Ice Cream Cones
Finding a good gluten free ice cream cone turned out to be a real obstacle for me. Either they held up well, but tasted like cardboard, or they had a good flavor but were extremely brittle.  I almost gave up on my search for a great gluten-free cone, but then I tried Joy's Gluten-free Sugar Ice Cream Cones.  Joy Cones have such a nice crisp texture and are strong enough to hold up to my eight-year-old's scooping skills. Not to mention that they taste amazing!  I even catch my non-celiac kids dipping into my stash.

Absolutely Gluten-Free Kosher Toasted Onion Crackers
Celiac.com 02/21/2013 - At this point, there are lots of gluten-free crackers on the market. While many of them taste great, a lot of them contain soy, corn starch and/or rice flour, which can be problematic for some people. Additionally, not all of them are Kosher. Absolutely Gluten-Free Toasted Onion Crackers not only taste great, but they're Kosher, gluten-, corn-, rice- and soy-free as well.
Having these crackers around the office has been great. They remind me of water crackers: they have that light, airy, crispy texture that makes them just perfect for overeating. These crackers are more flavorful though, which I would partially attribute to them being made primarily from tapioca and potatoes. They also have a subtle stone-baked flavor that complements the toasted onion well...
