    Jefferson Adams is Celiac.com's senior writer and Digital Content Director. He earned his B.A. and M.F.A. at Arizona State University. His articles, essays, poems, stories and book reviews have appeared in numerous magazines, journals, and websites, including North American Project, Antioch Review, Caliban, Mississippi Review, Slate, and more. He is the author of more than 2,500 articles on celiac disease.     This just in on the gluten-free beer front: Omission Beer took the top two slots to win the honors for best gluten free beer at the 2012 Great International Beer & Cider Competition in Providence, R.I.
    A total of four hundred seventy (470) beers and ciders from breweries from around the globe competed for top honors.
    Judges in the blind tasting competition presented first, second and third place awards in 44 categories of ales, lagers and ciders.
    The judges included eighty-three professional brew meisters, beer industry professionals, and beer journalists, who were given only the style and subcategory of each beer and cider they judged.

    Celiac.com 10/14/2016 - It's almost October, and that means beer, or, at least it means Oktoberfest is near. And in so many ways, gluten-free beer lovers have never had it better, with dozens of selections now available commercially, and more on the way every month, it seems.
    So grab a beer, and celebrate Oktoberfest. But before we get to the list of beer purveyors, let's quickly review some basics of gluten-free versus gluten removed.

    Justin Bieber Ditches Corona Beer for Omission in Response to Gluten Intolerance
    Celiac.com 10/29/2019 - It's a busy time for Just Bieber. Within a couple of weeks, the pop recording sensation got married, suffered a minor car accident, and revealed that he'll be giving up his favorite beer, Corona, in favor of gluten-removed beers, like Omission. The reason? Bieber just learned that he is "allergic" to gluten. 
    "Worst news ever I'm officially allergic to gluten," Bieber revealed via Instagram Story, "No more Coronas unless they make gluten free beer like this! Sad day."
    Speaking favorably about his newest favorite brew, the "I Don't Care" singer said the the gluten-free pale ale from Omission Brewing is "actually fire."
    It's not clear whether Bieber actually has celiac disease, or whether he has a non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

    Gluten-Free Ale Wins Gold in the
    06/24/2022 - The number of accolades and awards for gluten-free beers has risen steadily over the years. We've seen a number of top place finishes for gluten-free beers in the overall category in more than a few beer competitions.
    We've seen wins by Ghostfish Brewing of Seattle, and Omission, among others. The latest victory belongs to "La Grosa Rita Margarita-Style Ale," crafted by Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee. According to brewery's tasting notes, "La Grosa" features a lime forward, a bit of agave and orange sweetness, balanced with a sea salt saltiness. At just 4.5 abv, the beer keeps it light and refreshing. According to Lakefront, La Gross Rita is made with: Water, rice, agave, lime, orange juice, salt, hops and yeast.
