Celiac.com 03/16/2021 - We get a lot of questions from people wondering which brands of frozen waffles are gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease. We especially get a lot of questions about Van's frozen waffles. Specifically, are Van's frozen waffles gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance?

The good news is that Van's makes a line of gluten-free frozen waffles that are safe for people with celiac disease.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
It's important to make sure you're buying the gluten-free waffles, since Van's also makes frozen waffles that contain wheat flour. So read labels and choose carefully.

In addition to Van's there are a number of other frozen waffle brands that make gluten-free waffles that are safe for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, including the ever-popular, and easily available Kellogg's Gluten-Free Eggo Waffles.

Top Brands of Frozen Gluten-Free Waffles are Labeled Gluten-Free and Safe for People with Celiac Disease:

    • Hy-Vee Gluten-Free Frozen Waffles
    • Kashi Gluten-Free Original Frozen Waffles
    • Kellogg’s Eggo Gluten-Free Original Frozen Waffles
    • Nature’s Path Gluten-Free Homestyle Frozen Waffles
    • Trader Joe’s Gluten-Free Frozen Toaster Waffles

    GOOD MORNING,

VANS WAFFLES AND GLUTENFREE PANCAKES ARE GREAT.  ALSO, WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN FROZEN FRENCH FRIES AND POTATO NUGGETS WOULD HELP AS ANYTHING FROZEN HAS SO MANY PRESERVATIVES.  AT WOODMANS A GREAT gluten-free SECTION, HAS ALEXIS FRENCH FRIES WITH OUT MANY INGRIEDIENTS, ANY SUGGESTIONS TO THE ABOVE AS TO WHAT TO LOOK GFOR?  THANKS.

Taste is truly objective, I realize, but I found Van's waffles and pancakes to be inferior, not taste-wise, but in texture to Eggo. I just tried Nature's Path with about the same result. Personally, I find Eggo and Giant Eagle's Nature's Basket brands to have better texture, as well as tasting good.

In 1995 he launched the site that later became Celiac.com to help as many people as possible with celiac disease get diagnosed so they can begin to live happy, healthy gluten-free lives.  He is co-author of the book Cereal Killers, and founder and publisher of the (formerly paper) newsletter Journal of Gluten Sensitivity. In 1998 he founded The Gluten-Free Mall which he sold in 2014.
