What Brands of Makeup and Cosmetics are Gluten-Free?

I just spoke to a elf cosmetics rep, and they are not gluten-free, and they have at 3 separate products that contain wheat including a mascara. 

Most ELF products are gluten-free, but since all are not, we removed them.

Okaplex is not a cosmetic. It’s hair treatments, shampoo and conditioner.

Are there any mainstream cosmetics that are available in drug stores? 

Gabriel Cosmetics in my opinion, is the Best.  Actually they have 2 lines, ZuZu is a wonderful line too. By profession I am a makeup artist. I used to conduct product demonstrations for this company and yes I am Gluten-free. The entire Gabriel and ZuZu line gives great coverage ..  colors are beautiful. Great quality.

I do believe all of Fenty Beauty’s makeup and cosmetics are gluten free and vegan. I use almost every single product they have and I’m extremely sensitive to gluten and have never had any issues - plus their products are great quality. Love their cushion powder foundation, primer, highlighter, cream contour (bronzer), cream lip gloss, and eye primer. I use urban decay’s setting spray (I had called them and it is gluten-free), and I use eyeshadows and pencils that do not contain tocopherol acetate, aka vitamine E (unless specifically labeled gluten free).

Agreed - also I’m surprised they’re completely gluten-free now! I had looked at their stuff maybe two years ago and some of their products had wheat in them. Glad they’ve made the formula changes!

I recently tried the Ilia (ilia—not dr liia- confusing!) historically, i have very sensitive skin, and i don’t like the feel of foundation makeup on my skin at all! I hate it, and have been blessed with a good conplexion, so i don’t wear it at all. But middle age is taking its punishment on my looks  now, so sort of on a fluke, i tried ilia foundation and concealer. I like it a lot. I definitely look better and it does not feel or look heavy on my skin at all. (My husband keeps side-eyeing me when i wear it, trying to figure out why i look younger 😂) No red, stinging eyes, which is always my problem with makeup. No new patchiness or redness after using a few times. So, it’s a thumbs up for me!  I used the liquid foundation withOUT sunscreen. 

ilia has makeup but not skin care, so I am planning to try the Dr Liia skin care soon. Historically, I have been able to use YonKa skin care, and I love it, but prices are getting ridiculous, and i would like to support certified gluten-free company if it is good (big caveat! I have not tried it yet.)

Someone above asked about drugstore products. Some other products i have been able to use without problems are below. (i am not saying these are gluten-free just that i as a celiac can use them since i did before i ever knew i was celiac.)

Almay- Mascara- no red, stinging eyes and powder blush (drugstore)

NYX eye liners, mascara, lip sticks - have never used foundations (drugstore and ulta)

Benefit- liquid eyeliner and mascara (ulta)

i do NOT do well with any neutrogena products

i do NOT do well with BareMinerals on my face

i do NOT do well with any sunscreen products in makeup. No no NO!

Thanks for the article. I was glad to see a list of gluten-free makeup, however, I was disappointed that Red Apple Lipstick was not on it. They have been my go-to for lipstick and glosses for almost 10 years now. They are a small business and I would much rather support them than larger companies like Givenchy or Olaplex. They have come out with new lines regularly. Starting with lipstick, they now also carry lip gloss, mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow and more. While they are not available in store, which is fine by me, they ship quickly.

Have you contacted the company who makes this product to ask them if it is gluten free? Or even if they can answer that question?

Tarte advertises their makeup and skincare as gluten free. I'm very sensitive and so far have not had a problem (they are also a clean brand) and do not test on animals 

Also AG hair is also gluten free  its made in western Canada and I've been using it for over 20 years, it's readily available Canada wide but maybe not so much in other countries.  It's usually sold in salons and is also sls free and paraben free and free from other bad stuff. I highly recommend it.also no animal testing
