We are proud and excited to announce our Second Tour of the
Orient. This time, in addition to seeing many of China's magnificent
cultural, architectural and historic sights, we've arranged to see
additional highlights of two truly magnificent oriental countries -
Thailand and Cambodia.
In Thailand visit the picturesque "Temple of Dawn" (Wat Arun),
the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. You'll
have time to shop for exquisite Thai silks and so much more. Then
on to Siam and all it's mystical beauty and archaeological treasures.
Then on to Cambodia for an optional elephant-back ride to observe
an overlook of Angkor Wat - a UNESCO World Heritage. Then
perhaps a balloon ride for a birds-eye view also. We'll also visit a
local crafts school and market.
In China we'll briefly tour Shanghai before we depart for our cruise
up the Yangtze River. Aboard Victoria Cruise Lines Catarina we'll
actually be a part of all those oriental pictures of the beautiful
Gorges along the way. By 2009 most of what we'll see will be
submerged once the Three Gorges Dam ( the biggest in the World)
is completed. What a great way to sit back and take in the mystical
haunting beauty of the scenery along the river banks.
Then we go to Xian to one of the archaeological finds of the century
- the Terra Cotta Warriors. You truly have to see it up close and
personal to know how magnificent this is. The ancient City Walls of
Xian are not to be forgotten either.
When we visit Beijing we'll see the Great China Wall, Forbidden
City, Summer Palace, Tienanmen Square and so much more.
Bring comfortable walking shoes and your camera - there will be so
many things you'll want to see and take home to share.
The hotels we stay at are part of two of the world's finest hospitality
companies - Sofitel and Shangri-La. And, of course, the food will
be Gluten-free and a blend of western and oriental delights for you
to long remember.
