MEETING AGENDA SPEAKER: Craig Wierum, M.D. Dr. Wierum, an Endocronologist with Heritage Medical Associates will be giving a lecture on Vitamin D Deficientcy: The Silent Epedemic. Vitamin D deficiency is an unrecognized epidemic in many countries throughout the world today including the United States. It is particularly prevalent in areas where people avoid the sun which is our major source of Vitamin D. Unfortunately, less than 10% of our Vitamin D comes from diet, and the currently available supplements are inadequate to replace this deficit. Patients with Celiac disease have often gone for many years with inadequate Vitamin D absorption as well which compounds the problem. Dr. Wierum
