Amy Burkhart, MD, RD, will discuss complementary approaches to the gluten free diet to help persons with celiac disease achieve wellness. Many persons with celiac disease still have lingering symptoms or other health issues even after starting a gluten free diet. Dr. Burkhart will use integrative medicine approaches and suggestions such as supplements, vitamins, exercise, mind body medicine, and homeopathy to help everyone achieve optimal health.
Dr. Burkhart is an emergency medicine physician, a registered dietitian, and studied Integrative Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil. She is also a celiac herself, a parent of celiac children, and an active volunteer in North Bay Celiacs, for which she educates physicians and dietitians as part of the regional Celiac Disease Awareness Campaign.
We will have light gluten free refreshments and a free raffle to win a one-year subscription donated by Gluten-Free Living Magazine!
If you would like to attend, RSVP with the number of attendees to Jennifer Iscol at info@northbayceliacs.org or (707) 824-5830. We will confirm that you have signed up. We have plenty of space, but need to plan for the refreshments.
The event will be held in the Forum Room at the Sonoma County Library, Central Santa Rosa Branch. The address is 211 E St. (Third and E Streets) in Santa Rosa. The event is free. An optional $5 donation will help cover costs. There is a large metered public parking lot across the street from the library (bring quarters).
