Please join us for the Great Gluten Free Expo in Birmingham, Alabama - Feb 24, 25th, 2012. There has not been an event like this in our region before! Vendors space is still available!
The event kick-off is the Gluten Free Dinner Gala on Friday the 24th - featuring a 'celebrity chef' cook-off featuring one of the world's leading researchers in gluten intolerance - Dr. Alessio Fasano from the University of Maryland Center For Celiac Research - who will also be speaking at our expo the next day! Dr. Fasano has followers from across the globe who follow his progress on understanding gluten intolerance and the myriad of disorders connected with it.
Saturday begins with a 5K run - 'Making Tracks For Celiacs' at Veteran's Park. The park sits next to the Jefferson State Community College Culinary and Hospitality Institute - with it's teaching kitchens and tiered lecture rooms, it is the perfect spot for the Great Gluten Free Expo. A large hall will house the dozens of food vendors providing only gluten free samples to this very targeted audience. The campus classrooms and lecture halls will host the lecture by Dr. Fasano, cooking demonstrations, educational classes offering CEU's for medical professionals learning how to recognize and treat celiac disease, and much more!
We are not content with simply showing the growing variety of gluten free foods to a community always on the hunt for palatable gluten free food - but are intent on making a bigger impression - bringing better awareness and leading people toward diagnosis and easy acclimation into a healthier gluten free life! The event is a collaberation between the Birmingham Celiac Disease Support Group, BIrmingham Kids and Family, and Gluten Free Birmingham - all with far reaching connections into the community to offer great exposure for the event!
We are reaching out to all communities affected in a positive way by a gluten free diet - patients with gluten intolerance, celiac disease, digestive disorders, autoimmune disease, autism, ataxia, etc. Your participation at this event can bring you customers from at least seven states in the Southeastern region who are already signing up for the event! Call the BCDSG at (205)542-6165 for any questions. We hope to see you at this important event!
