This year’s valley-wide 2013 Phoenix Gluten-Free Expo will be held on Saturday, April 13th from 10am-3pm at the DoubleTree Resort in Scottsdale. The expo, presented by the Celiac Disease Foundation: Greater Phoenix Chapter, will feature Sprouts Farmers Market as the premier expo sponsor.
Last year’s expo drew near 2000 attendees and over 50 participating vendors. This year’s expo is expected to be even more successful with newly added educational segments highlighted by guest speaker, Dr. Peter Green, director of the Columbia University Celiac Disease Center, speaking at 9am and 1pm. In addition, there will be informative programs by the local R.O.C.K. (Raising Our Celiac Kids) group.
A wide variety of gluten-free and celiac-friendly vendors will be on hand to share information on the wide array of products and services now available to the gluten-sensitive community. Guests at the expo will be delighted by the amount of gluten-free products on display for sampling and purchase. Gluten-free cookbooks will be for sale with authors available for autographs. Guests will also learn about local restaurants offering gluten-free menus. Gluten-free raffles, silent auction and free samples along with a free event bag will guarantee that no one leaves empty-handed from this expo. There’s an incentive to buy tickets early – each pre-sale ticket will receive a copy of The Ultimate Guide to Gluten Free Living booklet from The Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University.
As the CDF: Greater Phoenix Chapter is committed to community awareness, a representative will be available to answer questions about celiac disease and the gluten-free lifestyle. Information about local support groups and national CDF support groups will also be available. If you are wondering about the gluten-free lifestyle, this is the place to be!
Admission for the expo is $7 for pre-paid admission and $10 at the door for adults, with children 12 and under free. Admission to Dr. Green’s presentation is separate, and will be $10 pre-paid and $15 at the door. Pre-payment online is encouraged for faster entry the day of the event, as day-of admission is cash only. Out of courtesy to all guests, it is asked that backpacks and satchels be left home.
