16th International Coeliac Disease Symposium
21–24 June 2015 | Prague, Czech Republic
Welcome Address
Dear colleagues and friends,
e 16th International Celiac Disease Symposium (ICDS 2015) is rapidly approaching
and builds on the long tradition of the previously highly successful meetings that have set
the standard in the fi eld. e symposium will take place in Prague, the beautiful capital
of the Czech Republic. e local organizing committee, together with the international
advisory board, is busy with the fi nalization of the program for both the Scientifi c meeting
and the Clinical forum. It promises to become a very exciting meeting where we will have
experts giving comprehensive updates on the latest developments within the fi eld and
oral presentations of selected abstracts. In addition there will be ample time for poster
sessions. Also, there will be several keynote lectures on timely topics like commonalities
between autoimmune diseases, intestinal organoids and the diversity and function of innate
lymphoid cells in the mucosal immune system. e clinical forum, a tradition going back to
the 12th ICDS in New York, will give an update for lay people and patients. Altogether it
promises to become a highly interesting meeting.
We hope to see you all in Prague!

Dear colleagues and friends,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 16th International Coeliac Disease
Symposium which will be held on 21st–24th June 2015 in Prague. Coeliac disease, even
more than 60 years a er the invention of jejunal biopsy and decades a er the discovery
of the sensitive serologic tests, remains very o en undiagnosed, underestimated and
poorly understood. e issue is becoming even more obscure by a rapid change in clinical
presentation. e typical picture of steatorrhea has o en been replaced by hidden and
confusing extraintestinal manifestations. Questions will be raised and challenged by an
exquisite spectrum of world renowned experts and young investigators. e meeting
will uniquely refl ect and joint interests and needs of scientists, clinicians, patients,
nutritionists. It will also attract drugs producers and health care providers and organizers
because screening, its organization and diet promotion are important tools of the diease
management. We believe that Prague as usual will provide a friendly and functional
background to the congress with a unique and inspiring atmosphere.
Kindest regards,
Julius Spicak
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee
