Help? Orange Oil/grease In Stools?

I am yet to be diagnosed...but so far my main symptoms are diarrhea after eating certain foods and now I have orange oil coming out with BMs, like literally someone put drops of orange vegetable oil in the toilet...it was very scary at first...but I am currently in no pain..no cramps or anything, just VERY tired and worried about why I am not digesting oils...

Dr. asked me if i have pain after eating or cramping, blood, etc... I said no, because I don't...just get diarrhea after eating sometimes, not all the time, and now this oil thing.  I am going to have to go back for tests, but in the meantime, does anyone here discharge oil/fat with BMs? And where do i start with my diet? I am clueless even after reading a diet list... the first things I am cutting out are soft drinks and sugary drinks and when i go grocery shopping what can I buy?

Thanks for any info and advice.

This is very commonly seen with people who have malabsorptive bariatric surgeries--like the Duodenal Switch.  Basically, it's undigested fat you eat.

Celiacs can have fat malabsorption too, so it is definitely something to mention to your gastroenterologist.

Just had this condition today, orange oil in stool.  I don't recall seeing this before, but have been diagnosed with celiac.  I have been taking an anal steroid for about a week now for internal issues, and wonder if there is any correlation there?  I really have not ate much fat content over the past few days, unless the gluten-free salad dressing I had today is the culprit.  It's a daily learning curve.

Hello, @Jackpine Rambler

I got the same condition.

Did your problem resolve? I am thinking about getting tested for celiac, this is not the first time. Price for food intolerance tests is pretty high.
do you have some progress with your case?

I can only speak for myself, but the oily stool seemed to coincide with a prescription for anal catabolic steroids for me, and I haven't had an issue since.  An issue with malabsorbtion of nutrients from celiac, but not the oily stools specifically.

We’re you able to figure out your issue?

After 3 months without gluten he will have healed and his blood tests will be negative. That does not mean "not celiac, ok to eat wheat, rye and barley again.  It does mean the diet is working.  Many of those recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease are often deficient in vitamin D and other vitamins and minerals.  It's a side effect called Malabsorption.  Get his blood checked for 25(OH)D level to be sure.

Yeah, but that's probably not where you want to eat, anyway.

Anyone try this? No matter what the brand, probiotics have ALWAYS made me break out bad. I am hesitant to try this simply for that fact, but I ordered a 3 month supply. Any input would be appreciated. Wish me luck.

@llisa, I am curious to know how much vitamin D you are taking and what is your plasma level in nmol/L or ng/ml what the doctor's target 25(OH)D is. Hopefully with the gluten free diet you'll be able to feel better.

Yes, but if you had been avoiding bread because of the stricture, that might explain the negative result of the previous celiac antibody test.
