I went to the health food store and grabed my brand of rice bread that I always get. Yesterday for lunch I had two peices of toast and than last night I started to eat another piece. I was talking and just reading the package for some reason and saw the word organic and almost died. It was not rice bread it was orgainc wheat bread! I started to cry instantly because I have been doing so well with eating gluten-free foods only...finally! Then this happens! Only its been over 24 hours now and I dont feel sick at all! Not even a little! I am tired but when am I not tired. I am thinking that maybe my body just hasnt reacted to it yet.....kinda weird its like I am waiting for the storm to hit ya know? Is there a chance that my boby wont react?? kinda confused here becasue last time I ate 3 bites of ice cream with wheat I was sick the next day and bloated and it lasted about a week. makes ya think right?

p.s. I have decided that we all deserve an award for being such good scientist and doctors because the way I see it the only ones studying this disease is Celiac's themselves. Good work guys your brilliance will see us through!

I have heard of people accidentally eating gluten and not reacting, but don't you worry... it's still causing damage ;)

hopefully you won't feel sick from it.

Some people just do not react and get symptoms...everyone varies when it comes to that. You still are doing damage though even if you do not feel it.

Before I was diagnosed I could eat a bowl of pasta and not notice any immediate gastro issues...so symptoms or reactions aren't always a good judge...

question for you... do you know for sure you have celiac disease? If so, then you just got "lucky" with the no reaction. Its normal for some ppl with celiac disease to not react.

Also, if it's only been a day, your reaction may be coming (sorry to be the voice of doom here). I sometimes won't react for about 1-3 days after getting gluten, I've heard somewhere that a reaction can hit even weeks later, but I'm not sure if that's true. Good luck, and congratulations for all the "clean" time you've had.

Just a thought but maybe you were reacting to the dairy and not necessarily the gluten. I dont think everyone "noticeably" reacts to gluten each and every time its consumed. Like everyone else said...its still causing damage even if you dont feel it.

It takes my body 3 full days to react as far as the gut reaction goes. As another poster said I also hate to be a voice of doom and gloom but wait. If you go a week breathe a sigh of relief.

Oh dont worry about being the bearer of bad news. I know its coming! I wish I could be one of those people who does not noticed when they get glutened, however my body does not handle it at all. I still dont feel sick or anything but I just feel like I cant focus on anything. Ick!

A couple weeks ago, the same type of thing happened to me. I never had a reaction to it. I did have a little stomachache- but it could have been caused by EXPECTING one :P .

Anyway, good luck- and remember that if you don't get a reaction, it DOES NOT mean that the diet isn't working. I had trouble with that. :)

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.

"Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D." Quoted from the Healthline article @Yaya linked above...
