I was just shot down with my Chicken idea!! We went to my BIL's and he said it was going to be finger food only. He said my other SIL was bringing Subs, I said I cannot eat subs. I was going to bring a chicken. Hubbs said no I am making wing dings. I said I cannot eat them because he is going to deep fry them in our deep fryer. He said so we will clean it. My thought was "I still cannot eat them" I was telling a friend about it. She said your just making it hard on your self! Because you can just change the oil and eat from it. I try and tell these people it is not that simple. So end result I will probably go and NOT eat anything. I cannot cook my own wing dings in the oven. and say ohhh these are mine. When hubbs is bringing deep fried ones.  I said What eles can I eat? Ohh Karen will bring nuts... Hmmm thanks !! So I cannot eat what you guys make and I can't bring my chicken? Hmmm geee thanks!! Thought at least my husband had my back.

Then I said I was having problems with corn products, they said ohh we seen you eating a candy the last time you were here. I ate two small pieces of chocolate. Wow here is my wrist slit it! So I am not sure how this Thanksgiving dinner will be for me!! My daughter will bring a gluten-free cake, I don't eat cake. And my other daughter will bring a desert. So I am not sure what I will do as of yet!! Pfftttt Maby keep my plopy hiny home?

i WOULD cook my own and say 'these are mine'  !!  what is wrong with these people, what are they, the candy police??  WHY can't you cook a chicken and bring it??  for people who are going the non-traditional route (SUBS for t-giving?  not exactly turkey and sweet tater pie...)  you would think they wouldn't care what you brought.   if i was going to go (and, God bless you for still even considering going, because i would tell them to cram it, stay home, and be thankful to be around somebody who loves me:  ME) i would bring my own food.  evidently they are going to give you a hard time whether you eat or don't eat, might as well eat safely and take your lumps for a good reason.  (LOLZ - i am a little bit "in your face" sort of person - can you tell  )  rant, rant rant rant rant rant rant!

and, last but not least:  shame on dave!!

so, here's the alternative solution (that will also spend dave's $$ hahaha hit 'em in the wallet, i always say :P )  go get you a brand new deep fryer.  problem solved  ^_^ and that'll teach him to chuck you under the bus :D

why can't you bring your own plate of food?

why can't you bring your own plate of food?

I would guess it's not "allowed."  <_<

Well now I know I am having a problem with corn.. hmmm just going to have to do more thinking on this cooking thing!! What can I make the Gravy with? Will another flour work ? Or should I just not have a gravy?

What about millet?

I find that millet reminds me of corn flour. I wonder if you could sub it for a cornbread type of bread?

I'm pretty sure you can eat whatever you want to with your hands. They can't stop you from putting whatever you want in your car and driving somewhere with it.

I'm having the kind of day where anything that can go wrong, has gone wrong... so my opinion right now? I would call to tell them that you're all out of $#&@! to give about family or holidays, what you think about the fact that you've been told you're not allowed to eat food you know is safe for you then hang up without waiting for a response. (I may have gone from passive aggressive to plain old aggressive today. Follow my advice at your own risk.) Of course, the completely sane side of me that is still inside somewhere knows that they're being complete asshats to you. So however you respond is probably fine.

I would do that, too.  I think you may need to stop asking for permission and either don't go, or just stop caring about what they think and bring your own food and do your own thing.  You don't need permission to eat food free of your allergen.

The first lab was different because Allina switched which lab they work with in between March and October. But October and January were the same lab. All through Allina but two separate labs.

Since she is asymptomatic and her first biopsy was negative I would not assume she has developed celiac disease. If her upcoming biopsy shows evidence of mucosal damage you have the firm evidence you need to trigger the gluten-free protocol at the preschool. There are other causes for mildly elevated tTG-IGA levels besides celiac disease. Studies are all over the map with this statistic but there is somewhere between a 10% and an almost 50% chance that your daughter will develop celiac disease since she has a first degree relative who is a celiac (her sister). The important thing in this scenario is to continue to monitor the situation via testing and symptoms. You are already doing this so kudos to you and your doctors. But one question I have is, are the blood samples being tested by the same lab in each case? Different labs build these tests a little differently and there is no industry standard. So, to compare her tTg-IGA test scores from one time to the other is only useful if the analysis is being handled by the same lab.

My daughter was tested at her annual appointment when she turned 4 because her brother has celiac's. She has no symptoms. She eats a lot of gluten.  Blood work round #1 March 2024:  -          Endomysial IgA Ab: Negative  (Range: Negative) -          Gliadin IgA: <10.0 U/ml  (Range: <20.0 Negative) -          IGA: 93.43 mg/dL  (Range: 27.00 - 195.00) -          TISSUE TRANSGLUTAMINASE IGA: 9.1 U/ml  (Range: <4.0) *** this was high. the range changes for the next one, but it was noted that it was about double the range.  We went for an endoscopy in May 2024 and it was negative.  Blood work round #2 October 2024: -          ENDOMYSIAL ANTIBODY TITER: 1:5 titer  (Range: <1:5) **flagged as high -          ENDOMYSIAL ANTIBODY SCR (IGA) W/REFL TO TITER: POSITIVE  (Range: NEGATIVE) **flagged because its not negative -          IMMUNOGLOBULIN A  TISSUE TRANSGLUTAMINASE AB, IGA:  28.8U/mL  (Range: 22 – 140.  <15.0  =Antibody not detected. >or= 15.0 =Antibody detected.) **flagged high but the ratio/range was different and about double. Note says: Serological evidence for celiac disease is present. Blood work round #3 January 2025: -          TTG IGA: 28.1U/mL  (Range: 22 – 140.  <15.0  =Antibody not detected. >or= 15.0 =Antibody detected.) Now we are scheduling another endoscopy. My main concern right now is if the endoscopy is negative again…where does that leave us??? Public Schools and daycare will not feel her gluten free if its not an official diagnosis.

The best food i have eaten for now is LCHF, i tried paleo but i was missing the dairy. And i love the cream in sauces. LCHF is good choice there is no grains in the dishes. It's completly gluten free lifestyle i say. Because i feel good to eat it.
