New (To Me) Baking Mix

I tried XO Baking Company's brownie mix and was bowled over. It is truly what I remember from my gluten eating days. Has any one used their all purpose flour? I'm hoping it will work as well as the mix I used. I found the mix in a "weird food aisle" at Home Store. I will order the other products if they are as good as the brownies.

That's great!  I have not seen the product but just use King Arthur flour (from the U.S.) in my favourite brownie recipes.  Chewy and so moist.  I love that brownies can taste the same (or better!) than gluten-y brownies.

I just bought the brownie mix from Home Goods. I find all kinds of fun gluten free food there.

Home Goods is the store I meant. I also find good gluten-free stuff at TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning and Marshall's. They all have a "weird food" aisle.

It seems that chocolate is the one thing that translates into gluten-free better than all others. I have yet to eat any kind of gluten-free chocolate baked good that didn't taste the same as the gluten counterpart.  Brownies, cookies, cakes - they're all good.

XO  Baking  is one of the better  gluten-free companies....

Ditto to this!  I always pop into these types of stores and look at the food while I am there.  You can get some good bargains on gourmet stuff and gluten-free stuff, just watch the expiration date.  TJMaxx is where I usually go, and they mark them on clearance when the expiration date is 2-3 months out.

I don't believe that existing life insurance policies require such notifications--health checks are typically done before such policies are obtained. I believe it would primarily affect any new policy you get, and perhaps any policy renewal.

You could go gluten-free now, and then start eating lots of gluten for at least 2 weeks before your endoscopy--just be sure to tell your doctor about this beforehand. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet, it is further evidence of celiac disease and/or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.  Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.

If I'm not mistaken, you need to count by the grams of GLUTEN, not the gram weight of the bread.  So, instead of counting each slice of bread as 35 grams, it would be counted as 2 grams, so that's why the recommendation is 5 slices a day = 10 grams.  One of the moderators can correct me if I'm wrong on that!

Question re: life/health insurance: if you're already under these policies, do you have to notify them if you receive an official diagnosis, or is that only for new policies?  I have had two active term life insurance policies for many years that I pay a set amount into.  And my employer covers my health insurance.  So, do I need to let them both know if I do become officially diagnosed?  I'm glad I read this, because that would certainly be marked off in the "disadvantage" box for me!

I'm new here so I'm not sure if I'm allowed to recommend doctors?  But I am in Manhattan and see Dr. Lauren Schwartz at Manhattan Gastroenterology.  I am still in the process of (potentially) being diagnosed and she has been wonderful.  She has experience in Celiac and has a very calming bedside manner.  I feel confident I'll get the right diagnosis with her.  Give her a try if she takes your insurance.  Good luck!
