In October when I attended the Expo in SLC I was able to try Breton crackers. They have two flavors. Skeptical by nature, I assumed these would be another cracker-wanna-be. I'm not saying there is anything inherently wrong with things like Crunchmaster or Mary's Gone Crackers, I buy and enjoy both products... it's just that they aren't CRACKERS. Not like most of us remember and desire.

Anywho, I was very pleasantly surprised when I picked one up and bit into it to discover it had the taste and texture of a Ritz-like cracker. Or more accurately, like Breton crackers. Of the two things I have missed, truly missed, it has been bread and crackers. It is sort of embarrassing to say, but I nearly wept with joy at discovering these. Only to find they were super new and no store anywhere had them.

Finally, one local chain has started carrying them and I finally got a box today. They were on sale for $3.49, usually $3.99 and they are the usual Breton sized box. One long sleeve of rather large round crackers. (I'm sure my husband will have a heart attack if I tell him, I didn't blink at the price, nor will I ever.) I can not express in words how amazing these crackers are. I am not surprised that of all the companies out there, cracker people figured out crackers.

Theoretically, Costco is supposed to also be carrying these. So I'll be watching my local store and hopefully we'll all be able to find them if we want them.

Addy, these are SUBLIME! What flavour(s) have you tried? Two of our stores carry them and since my discovery, I may have accidentally slipped 4 boxes into my gullet in a week. And there just may be 4 more in the pantry. Not for long, though! These suckers are marvelous, wonderful and delicious. I have never loved a commercial gluten-free product this much. Everyone, please eat them so we continue getting them!

I got those.  They are very normal cracker-like.  My hub really liked them.

Do you like them?

I think they are good.   We don't always like the same crackers.  They are a nice large cracker.

I tried both flavors at the Expo. The only one they had at the store when I went today was the Herb and Garlic and they only had one box! GAH!!! I already have plans for all of the wonderful and amazing things I can do with crackers. Of course, those plans involve a box surviving 24 hours which until I am sated isn't likely. (I knew these existed, and had tasted them and waited 6 weeks to find them. Right now I'm pretty much a ravening beast.)

OMG!  I absolutely loved Breton Crackers.  I will wait impatiently for my store to stock them.  Maybe I'll put a bug in their ear, we had words about peanut butter earlier this year so they will want to shut me up quickly :D

After my 3 year old daughter's diagnosis, we all got tested. My 5 year old son also came back positive with number 12x the upper limit.  We will confirm with another tTG and the other 2 tests in the panel.  He has zero symptoms that I have noticed. Maybe occasionally vomiting. He does have asthma. He's kind of an a**hole sometimes but also he's 5. He has SO much energy. Like miles and miles of biking, running, gymnastics. Never stops. Eats great, normal growth. It was comparing my daughter to him that made me push to figure out what was wrong with her!  Is it possible for a tTG test to just be totally wrong?

I'm heading to the UK for a vacation the end of this month on a tour with Road Scholar. I haven't been out of the US since my diagnosis so I'm a little concerned about exposure to gluten during my travels. Most of our meals are provided by the tour. Either the hotels we are staying at, or places we will visit. Road Scholar is aware of my dietary needs as well. Any helpful hints about navigating the restaurants in England is greatly appreciated. Also are there any medications out there to help mitigate the effects of exposure to gluten? Thanks in advance.
