Internal Itch In Chest That Can't Be Scratched

Hello all

Not quite sure where to post this... but here goes.

I am strict with the gluten-free diet.  I have never been sure, however, if other foods are causing problems.  Early January I had this mild but nonetheless annoying itch, ache and soreness begin in my upper left chest, under my left arm and under the breast.  No swelling or rash or anything.  I had some checks (mammo/ ultrasound) as we have a family history of breast cancer although nothing found.   Had some blood checks New Year, they were fine.

Someone suggested it might be musculoskeletal.  I do have a few bulging discs in my neck, but haven't got around to seeing that specialist yet - you know what it is, some of us don't know where to start so much seems to be going on with our health at times.  It hasn't got any worse in eight weeks but not better either!  I am have now I noticed that this thing feeling of irritation also appears to be in my throat at times, and also feel this itch round my back, again, left side.   My friend has had shingles and thought I might have that but no rash, as I say.

I am thankful to say it doesn't keep me awake at night, I don't really wake up with it, stress makes it worse.

However, I wondered if any of you have had anything like this and have been able to put it down to another food intolerance.   Or could it be related to celiac?

Many thanks.

There are a lot of things that can cause weird pains in the chest area.  Definitely let your doctor know.  Ever had GERD or gallbladder issues?

LauraTX, thanks so much, I will look into it. It has just dawned on me since posting this whether if bringing dairy back into my diet might be responsible, as it didn't seem to be giving me an upset stomach anymore I assumed my villi were better and I could tolerate it again.  I guess it might be making my chest feel itchy, the itchiness has always been more prevalent than the pain and  I know that some asthmatics can't tolerate it.  Maybe, maybe not.  Sounds like another food trial on its way!

Thank you for your input!  I would really like to know if I have celiac disease because you need make sure you are not getting any cross contamination due to cancer concerns.  I guess I need to start with a knowledgeable Gastroenterologist. Thank you again!

Correct. I’m doing both in the same go though. Thanks for clarifying before I confused someone. I’m doing a colonoscopy for something else and then they added the endoscopy after the test.

It is a biopsy but it's not a colonoscopy, it's an endoscopy.

Well I’m going on the gluten farewell tour so they are about to find out lol. I keep saying biopsy but yeah it’s a scope and stuff. I’m a dummy but luckily my doctor is not.
