Calcified Nodule Cyst – Ct Scan And Ultrasound + More

Astrongtower

Recommended Posts

Astrongtower Rookie

I recently got a CT scan of my Pelvis and Abdomen because I kept feeling a weird sensation on my left side of torso.

The feeling is just like a slight pressure more towards the back then the front.

I have also had an ultrasound.

Everything came back 100 percent normal except that I had constipation. Seemed like there was food all throughout my colon and just not in the lower quadrant like it should be.

Other thing that came back was the “Calcified Nodule Cyst”. They said that I had two very tiny ones that where benign and not cancerous.

One was in my liver and one is on my left liver lobe.

My question is what is this all about? Is this common? They asked if I drunk a lot in the past and I said no because I didn’t. I do have heavy drinks once in a blue moon on special occasions but that is it.

Questions:

+Can I still drink alcohol or should I stay away from it? Will my cyst increase do to Alcohol?

+What should I watch out for having a cyst in my Liver?

+I read something online saying that a calcified liver will heal itself and nothing special is required, is this

true?

+I have a high IGA and an elevated IGM levels, does this have anything to do with that?

P.S.

I have a five major complete work up blood tests drawn all from different Doctors saying that I am completely healthy.

I am 35 now, is this just a sign of getting old?

Other symptoms…

Only two symptoms I really have left are the weird sensation that I have on my left face on my upper chick and around my left eye. I watch an extremely large amount of TV and on the computer like 24/7 doing large amounts of school work.

I did go to an allergist and got a complete work up done to find out what I am allergic to and found out that I am extremely allergic to grass and ragweed.

My primary doctor said that my face sensation is nothing and that I should just take a hot shower and lean over to let my sinuses drain.

I read somewhere else that sometimes you could have a dry face and you just need to put lotion on it.

My second symptom is just the weird sensation that I feel around my left side torso. Feels like there is a slight pressure their mainly when I sit down for long periods of time.

Note:

Both of these symptoms have absolutely no pain. Nothing else has occurred and I have gotten completely better from everything else. I sleep absolutely great, I feel great, and I am happy. I would just like to finish up with these last few symptoms and move on with my life.

P.S.

I did do a stool test 3 times which I did not obey the eating requirement all too well I think. But they did come back positive for “Fecal Occult Blood Test”, all three. But my Primary Doctor again said that was due to my bloating and they are not really reliable.

Basically at the end of the day I am just trying to figure out if I have IBS. I just want to know so I can move on with my life.

My dad has celiac and I have been tested 3 ways to Sunday saying I do not have Celiac. He has always had all kinds of abdominal pain and that is where I think I get this from.

Medication:

I was told by my Doctor to take Metamucil and Probiotics which I have started and man let me tell you I feel much better on this stuff. I wish I knew why but I just do I guess. I have great bowl movements and no lower intestine pain right before going to the bathroom.

Final Notes:

I have the other two tests but they say about the same exact thing and are only on paper.

So what does everyone think about all this?

What should I do?

Am I essentially okay? Or do I have a possibly of developing cancer in the future more so then the next person? My family does not have a history of any major diseases that I know of.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Best,

Astrongtower

Did the testing three ways from Sunday for Celiac Disease include endoscopy with multiple biopsies of the small intestine?

Once the testing was complete -- have you completely removed gluten from your world for three to six months?

As for the cancer question -- how the heck would we be able to answer this -- life causes all sorts of cancer.

If you want to limit the risk -- eat a balanced whole food diet (nothing processed) and get daily exercise (walking is sufficient).

I was told by my Doctor to take Metamucil and Probiotics which I have started and man let me tell you I feel much better on this stuff. I wish I knew why but I just do I guess.

Well, if you feel better on metamucil and probiotics, my guess is you were bound up -plain and simple--and lacking fiber.

I watch an extremely large amount of TV and on the computer like 24/7 doing large amounts of school work.

to combat constipation and sluggy bowels, stop watching large amounts of TV and exercise more. Drink a lot of water.

As to the rest of your tests, they look great to me! Good for you.

You know, none of us are doctors (well, Jebby is, but she can't possibly give you any medical advice) so asking us medical questions is

pointless. No one here is going to speculate about your liver or the prospects of developing cancer.

How can any of us say if you will or not...only God almighty knows that answer.

I'd say take your excellent results as a sign that you're in good shape. Stop worrying about so many little things . Go outside and enjoy yourself

and for the love of mike, 35 is hardly old.  :) you're a spring chicken.

I sleep absolutely great, I feel great, and I am happy. I would just like to finish up with these last few symptoms and move on with my life.

You keep saying, "I just want to know...so I can move on with my life."

Well, you know...."you sleep great, you feel great, you're happy."........so, move on with your life !!

Do you know how many people on this forum--and in the world at large--would be thrilled to be able to say that sentence?

kareng Grand Master

Sound like you are healthy. Maybe need a bit of a diet and exercise change - more fiber & more exercise.

these liver questions should be directed to the physician not some random Internet people who know about Celiac disease. :)

Getting occasionally twinges, etc is normal. Don't obsess about it. Go.... Live your life....

Astrongtower Rookie

They did not. I was wondering if I should do that but my Father who has Celiac Disease did not even do that. I heard it is not completely necessary.

I have not completely removed Gluten. Have been thinking about that. Do you think I could have a gluten sensitivity without having Celiac?

Thank you for the advice I will definitely start doing that.

Yes I hate vegetables and its very hard for me to eat them so I would agree.

I do need to be more active and watch less TV.

You are right, I just didn't know if High IGA was a bad thing or meant I had an increase risk or not.

You are very right I should appreciate what I have and take that to the bank. Thank you.

I agree. Maybe I am a little depressed too. not sure, but I could change my diet.

I have asked my Doctor everything, they say I am all fine. Just wanting some other opinions.

I do need to stop obsess, I agree so much!

UPDATE:

Ok I am not sure if this helps or not, but I no longer have the weird feeling in my left torso, that is gone.

The only feeling that I have left is the weird sensation right on the left side of my nose and possibly sometimes below my left eye.

It comes and go.

If I put an eye patch on my left eye I do not feel the sensation. So I am thinking it is eye strain or that it is just pressure from the patch distracting the other sensation.

I just went for a walk and I really didn’t feel it. So I think it might only come when I look down at the computer screen or watch TV.

I mean how are you suppose to know when you need glasses? I mean I can still read the words but is it just harder for me to do so now?

I recently moved a very heavy flat screen and put it on my shoulder/back, have been studying a lot by looking down and on the computer, and have been watching TV until like 4 in the morning sometimes.

I think this might be related to my Shoulders or middle back or upper neck but I am not sure. Can a pinched nerve affect facial muscles?

PLEASE HELP ME ANY WAY THAT YOU CAN!

If it is harder to read - go see an eye doctor for an exam.

Stretch.  If you stay in the same postion for hours, it will cause issues.

Really - don't over think this.  Its just common sense and not that serious.  Lots of people need glasses & strain their necks, etc.

Then see a dentist & get one of those nightguards.

None of these things are really related to Celiac.  They are just common problems lots of people have.  I am afraid you are making them into something horrible in your head.  Relax.

Hi, I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter..I would say she has had tantrums since even before she was a year old. Challenging but not extreme. Lately, her behavior had gotten extreme. Just so angry, yelling mean hateful things, completely defiant, was causing a lot of disruption in our house, I felt like I had lost the little girl I knew, we were baffled.   Something just didn’t seem right to me, I have been researching and read about how gluten can sometimes affect kids behavior. I took her off gluten a week ago tomorrow. The next couple days after I took her off gluten the days were much easier. About 4 days in she had one of the worst days I’ve seen her have tho. I kept on with it tho and the past two days she has been angelic. Is this common that if it is gluten that she could still have a bad day like that a few days after taking her off of it? Should I try to reintroduce it at some point to see if it’s really a gluten intolerance? I’m not gonna lie, if she continues with the great behavior she’s had the past couple days I will probably be scared to reintroduce it but don’t want her to have to avoid gluten if it’s not necessary. Anyone have advice?

But HDL is considered to be the "good" cholesterol, right?
    • plumbago
Since some time between 2010 and 2014, my HDL-C has been going up and you might even say elevated. The last time I could find in my records that my HDL was normal was in 2014 when it was 67. Last week, it was 101, and it’s been 88 and above since about 2015. A significant life event happened in 2010 when I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and in May of that year began a gluten free diet. An informal perusal of a previously posted topic on HDL on this forum shows that a lot of members responding had high normal or high levels of HDL, so it doesn’t seem to be that unusual. But because my HDL numbers have been so high for so long, I am now officially concerned enough that I will probably reach out to a cardiologist who specializes in lipids. I would like to know if I should have a genetic test, as a specific genetic mutation can be one reason for high HDL numbers. I will also ask if he/she thinks a cardiac work up including a coronary artery calcium score should be considered. I think by now most of us are done with the ridiculous good and bad cholesterol labels; the amount of what we don’t know about HDL is quite large. For me my questions include is it a matter of production or an inability to clear HDL, and are the high levels having an effect on my vasculature (or a result of a less than optimal vasculature)? My last TSH level was normal, so it's likely not a thyroid issue. I also take B12 regularly. I’ve read that niacin can cause HDL levels to go up, but B12 is not niacin, and I could find no definitive link between robust B12 supplementation and abnormally high HDL levels. Any input is appreciated! Plumbago

@Mynx, how long have you been gluten-free? I ask because many newly diagnosed celiacs react to many things, and often think their reactions are caused by gluten, when in fact, they are really caused by a combination of a sensitive gut due to damage, as well as additional food intolerance/leaky gut issues to other foods which may be temporary until their villi heal.

Many major brands of distilled vinegar in the USA, including Heinz white vinegar, are typically made from corn. In the United States, corn is a common and cost-effective raw material used in the production of distilled white vinegar. The process involves fermenting the sugars derived from corn into alcohol, which is then further fermented into acetic acid to produce vinegar. Distillation follows, which purifies the liquid and removes impurities, including any residual proteins or allergens. While the source of the vinegar (e.g., corn) is not always explicitly stated on the label, corn-derived vinegar is widely used in the food industry due to its neutral flavor and affordability. For individuals with gluten intolerance or celiac disease, distilled vinegar made from corn is generally considered safe, as the distillation process effectively removes gluten proteins. However, if you have concerns about cross-contamination or specific sensitivities, it’s always a good idea to contact the manufacturer directly to confirm the sourcing and production practices. Heinz, for example, has stated that their distilled white vinegar is gluten-free and safe for those with celiac disease, but verifying this information can provide additional peace of mind. The belief that distilled vinegar is gluten-free is rooted in the scientific understanding that gluten proteins, which are large and complex molecules, are generally too big to pass through the distillation process. Distillation involves heating a liquid to create vapor, which is then condensed back into a liquid form, leaving behind larger molecules like gluten proteins. However, the concern about cross-contamination arises from the possibility that gluten-containing ingredients may have been present in the liquid prior to distillation. While the distillation process itself is highly effective at removing gluten, the equipment used in production could potentially introduce trace amounts of gluten if not thoroughly cleaned between batches. For most individuals with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, distilled vinegar is considered safe because the gluten content, if any, is typically below the threshold that would trigger a reaction. However, for those with extreme gluten intolerance or celiac disease, even trace amounts can cause adverse effects. This is why some individuals, like yourself, may choose to avoid commercially produced distilled vinegar and opt for alternatives like apple cider vinegar, which can be verified as gluten-free. The meticulous process of researching ingredients and preparing homemade products, such as ketchup, is indeed challenging but crucial for maintaining health and avoiding gluten exposure. It’s important to note that regulatory standards for gluten-free labeling vary by region, and in many places, products labeled "gluten-free" must contain less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten, which is considered safe for the vast majority of people with celiac disease. Nonetheless, individual sensitivity levels can vary, and your approach highlights the importance of personalized dietary management for those with severe gluten intolerance.
