pot noodle type stuff that only needs hot water has been recommended to me for my trip to China coming up. I don't usually eat this stuff anyway so I wouldn't have a clue where to get it, but can anyone give me suggestions where the best stores are that might sell gluten free type will be available? Someone suggested Thai Kitchen stuff. Im not a fan of noodles anyway so if anyone has any other suggestions that would be helpful. Apparently I will have access to a kettle for hot water but no microwave. Thanks.

Thai Kitchen is okay.  I prefer the packets to the bowls, and the packets certainly take up less space.

Recently I found Gefen's soup noodle cups.  I'm not sure about their availability.  I saw them on Amazon and on glutenfreepalace.com (in a few flavors).  I haven't tried them and I haven't found reviews anywhere.

If you can tolerate oatmeal, that would be another "just add water" type of food that would travel well.

are you going to purchase it here and then pack it to take with you?  do you live in the US?  you might check a maz on dot com - i think i saw some gluten-free ramen noodles on there...  (watch out, though, they will get you with the shipping, even if you have prime!    )

Not sure.......I was recommended to take some, Im asking how easy it is to buy stuff there, but I find this most unappetizing to say the least. So long as I can easily buy fruit there Im not bothered but idk yet how easy that will be. Thanks for the response

I've had buckwheat ramen, but I don't remember the brand.  It wasn't too bad.  I'd bring some of those tuna in a pouch things.  They pack well.  You can also get some add hot water gluten free mac and cheese bowls, but they're really small.  I do like the Thai Kitchen noodles, and I get these add hot water cups of jambalaya and other rice dishes from a company called Louisiana Purchase (I think I buy them at Duane Reade or CVS drugstores)

Thanks for all the replies - I saw my Celiac specialist for the first time y'day and he doesn't want me going gluten free yet anyway until I have my endoscopy next month, so that makes the whole travel thing easier anyway!

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.

"Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D." Quoted from the Healthline article @Yaya linked above...
